Samfest Jazz is a jazz & blues festival which takes place in Satu Mare City, in the north-western part of the country, near the border with Hungary and Ukraine. It started in 2005, having as venue the former „Summer Theater”, a place that held a lot of cultural manifestations, but does not exist anymore. This location was the home for the 2005 and 2006 editions. In 2007, the jazz festival was held in the Cultural House, following in 2008 in the New Central Place in Satu Mare. Then, in 2009, looking for a new location in case of bad weather, it was held in Club „Insomnia”. Due to a lot of venue changes, the management tried to look for a new one wich had a better acoustic, thus being a better place for the jazz artists and lovers so, in 2010, the Samfest Jazz venue became the „Dinu Lipatti” Philharmonic.
