Dear Pilots,

We regret to inform you that due to extremely unfavorable weather conditions, including heavy rains leading to flooding and unpredictable wind directions, we are compelled to postpone PGAEC Croatia to a reserve date. The safety and well-being of all participants is our top priority, and we believe this decision is necessary to ensure a fair and safe competition.

The competition will now be held on October 18-20, 2024. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

The 2nd stage of the Paragliding Accuracy European Cup (PGAEC) took place from August 16 to August 18 in the stunning Beskydy region of Czechia. The competition was nothing short of exhilarating, with participants facing unpredictable weather conditions that tested their skills to the limit. Despite a challenging forecast that predicted non-flyable conditions on Sunday, the pilots were able to take to the skies all day, proving their resilience and expertise.

The competition saw winds changing directions, thermals rising, and even bouts of rain and storms, all of which added an extra layer of difficulty to the event. Yet, the pilots rose to the occasion, delivering a spectacular display of precision and control.

In the overall ranking, Germany dominated the podium, with Lennard Schubert taking the top spot, followed by his brother Linus Schubert in second place. Radek Vaclavik from Czechia secured third place, making his country proud with a strong performance.

The women’s category was equally fierce, with Marketa Tomaskova from Czechia taking first place. Her fellow countrywoman, Lucie Martinkova, claimed second place, while Spela Krnc from Slovenia rounded out the top three.

In the team category, Germany once again emerged victorious, securing the first-place position. Czechia Too came in second, followed by Team Davinci & BGD in third place, demonstrating the high level of competition across the board.

The success of this stage would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the organizers, who managed to deliver a well-executed event despite the challenging weather conditions. A heartfelt congratulations goes out to them, as well as to all the pilots and teams who participated and made this competition a memorable one.

As the dust settles in Beskydy, the anticipation now shifts to the next stage of the PGAEC, which will be held in Croatia from September 20 to September 22. Pilots from across Europe will once again converge to showcase their skills and aim for accuracy, as the competition continues its journey across the continent.

Last Friday, 5 rounds of the PGA European Cup, Czech Open 2023 and the Czech Championship took place in Beskydy.

71 pilots from 14 European countries flew at Velký Javorník. A weak but direction changing wind prepared challenging conditions for the competitors. After 5 rounds Linus Schubert from Germany was in the lead with 7cm, closely followed by Slovenian Jaka Gorenc (8cm) and Matjaz Sluga (9cm).

On Saturday the wind turned to the west and the competitors were flying on Skalka. 6th round was flown, but the 7th round was interrupted by a storm.

After the storm, the weather allowed us to complete Round 7 and Round 8. At the end of the 8th Round, the top 20 pilots flew in reverse order of ranking after the 7th Round.
The differences between the pilots in the top places were only 1cm.

In the end the first place was defended by Matjaž Sluga from Slovenia (18cm), followed by German junior Linus Schubert and Slovenian Jaka Gorenc (both 19cm). The second place was decided by the fact that Linus gave 1cm twice and Jaka only once.

We hope that the competitors appreciated the organization of the competition and the environment of the Czech Beskydy Mountains.

Last weekend, a Euro Cup was organized in Uroi, Romania by the local aeroclub “Wild Wind Adventure”. There was a total of 44 pilots, whose accuracy landing skills were seriously challenged the whole time.

Despite less than ideal weather conditions, a total of 6 rounds were done, during which the competitors faced various weather conditions which were changing all throughout the competition. Strong gusts of wind, thermals, and changing wind direction were just some of the challenges that required hard work and sharp focus from the pilots. In these nerve-wrecking instances, every decision and maneuver had to be calculated with utmost precision.

2. Marketa Tomaskova
3. Renato Herega

Team ranking:
1. KOSOVA TEAM
2. CZECH TEAM
