What a magical Eyes of the Algarve week, bringing the Deadhead community to Lagos, Portugal.
A huge thank you to every single person that trusted us to make this happen. It was a year in the making, and wow - everyone shattered our expectations.
For our committee, it was the first time ever putting on a music festival. The learning curve was steep and we couldn't have done it without each and every one of you.
Today, we want to give a special shoutout to:
💃 Grateful Nights & Slim Jim - without the band, there would be no musical equipment and no music to be enjoyed. Two of our artists drove all the way from Barcelona with a Tetris-looking van to make sure this event happened. Lights, instruments, monitors, amps, a million cords, and more traveled over 13 hours to Lagos. After that, they showed up early for setup and played for 4+ hours per day.
🙌 Wake Park Lagos - the staff, venue, and vibes were SO perfect the entire time. We had been working closely with the Wake Park team since the start of the year, navigating custom menus, permits, layout, electricity, staffing, and more. To dance to the music outside, on the grass, in the sun of Portugal was a special feeling that nowhere else in Lagos could provide.
❤️ Our local musicians & Maykro (audio engineer) who helped spread the word and bring their energy to Eyes of the Algarve, really rounding out the lineup and working with us throughout these months to create something special.
💪 The early morning volunteers. These guys helped the band unload, hang all the art, and get the logistics rolling at 9 am (crazy early for Portugal time). Some of our volunteers went straight to their normal job after catching a few sets.
📸🎥 The camera crew! André captured these photo moments through his lens (more coming soon) and Maddy🌙 captured the sounds of the music with her videography (a lot of the stories you've been seeing). I *(Taylor)* am normally the one working press at concerts and fests we go to. This was the first time I was able to fully enjoy and let someone else capture the moments. They both did a fantastic job.
