The date 6th of June 1944 is the launch date of the biggest military operation known to the world in modern history, called Operation Overlord, which took place on the coasts and deep within Normandy, France during the 2nd World War. The goal was to open a second front in Europe, and free the continent from the N**i tyranny that had lasted since 1939 which started with the invasion of Poland in early September.
The operation consisted of an airborne assault of 1200, 5000 naval vessels and around
160 000 troops in the first days of the invasion, ending up at more than 2 000 000 by the end of August, consisting of countries such as the United States of America, the United Kingdom and its Commonwealth (Canada, Australia, New Zealand), Poland, France, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway,Denmark and China.
In the year 2019, on the 6th of June, it will mark the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, and the start of Europe being freed from the N**i repressions.
Our goal is to attend, represent and honor the brave souls that gave their lives for the opportunities we have today.
Thus, we have assembled 3 of the largest reenactment groups in Poland:
GRH Rangers Lead The Way, SRH Normandia 44 and SNAFU.
About us
The groups are non-profit, and are made of people with a strong passion for history, who take their own time and money to fully immerse themselves in their respective roles.
We stand to educate and teach people about the daily lives of the servicing Men and Women
in the United States Army by portraying some of the units that served on the European Theatre of War, such as the 2nd Ranger Bn, the 2nd Infantry Division and the 29th Infantry Division.
Each of the Reenactment groups has more than 5 to 10 years of experience, and lots off accomplishments in the field of Living History.
From winning several First Place awards in portraying the units they represent and Dioramas, to organizing some of the most successful Historical events in Poland.
Together we are organizing ourselves to travel and stay for 10 days in Normandy from the 2nd of June to the 11th of June 2019, and commemorate the 75th anniversary of Operation Overlord and the sacrifices given by these Men and Women in freeing Europe from the N**i Tyranny, which shadows are slowly rising up again from its slumbers.
Together, we are 50 reenactors, with vehicles and equipment, who have gotten invited by the Overlord Museum in Normandy to portray the Units we portray and stay with the Museum for the length of the anniversary, creating a US Army Camp and base of operations.
Our Partner
For this trip, we have gotten together and asked the Polish association “Stowarzyszenie Akademia Wilanowska” to be our partner in this great undertaking.
The association is currently working together with the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanow and has organised during its 13 years of existence multiple cultural events ranging from Concert with people such as Nigel Kennedy, Leszek Mozdzer, etc
They have also organised many theatre spectacles directed by Andrzej Antoni Kreütz-Majewski, Film festivals and art galleries.
Last year they organised a nationwide campaign against Cyber Violence amongst children with the help of the Polish state.
What the funds go towards
The funds we search to obtain are to be used mostly to cover our transport from Poland to Normandy, France.
The transport we need to fund is not only transportation of the reenactors themselves, but as well the World War 2 vehicles and equipment that is needed to build a as historically accurate US Army camp.
The vehicles we want to include, and to be able to travel with on location are:
2x Willys jeeps, 2x Dodge WC51 and one GMC, with the possible inclusion of a Harley WLC, all in perfect working condition.
The rest of the funds go towards food and rations for the reenactors, as well as the possibility for some of them to buy tickets to History Museums in Normandy.
One last thing we want to do together with the Association mentioned beforehand is to create a documentary of the whole process, from organizing to attending the event.
The trip
The plan of the trip looks more like this:
Half the people who can attend the full 10 day event start departing from Poland on the 2nd of June. The rest arrives by the 5th of June 2019.
The first part of the group start building the camp, as well as other dioramas to present the scenes from the landing itself. This should take up to 2 days of work.
In the meantime, our oldtimer vehicles should arrive.
On the days until the 6th, which is the anniversary date, and the region around the museum is locked down, we would like to travel and visit some of the museums.
On the 6th, we want to travel early in the morning to each groups Unit landing place, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach and hold a ceremony for the fallen.
After the ceremony, we go back to the camp and start our camp activities, such as normal camp life, but also patrol duties, which are to educate our own reenactors and give them a possibility to enact their roles in the native landscape of that Operation, which is very different to the one we have in Poland.
Thank you
The support for this project from our benefactors will allow us to go in a bigger and more organised group, to harden our bonds with each other, allow us to learn more about what the people we try to portray went through when they sat their feet ashore of the coast of Normandy, and had to live in the surrounding fields. The trip will give us a great a opportunity to teach us more by being on location than just reading books, and most of all, one of the biggest chances in our lifetime to still talk to the remaining veterans of the 2nd World War, and show them, that they have not been forgotten, and that their sacrifices live on, and are being thought to younger generations, who won't have the same opportunity as we do, to have that contact with the Greatest Generation.
There are no words that could describe of how grateful we are for the help that you might bestow us in this project.
We thank you all with again for the help.

Post Scriptum
Now, because gofundme.com does not support Poland as a country for which you can transfer money to, i've decided to use my country of origin, Norway, as a country of origin for this project.
