The disco may stop, but the discourse shall go on forever.

It is with great dismay that the Santa Mesa Debate Open's Organizing Committee announces the cancellation of this year's iteration of its flagship debate competition.

The anticipation surrounding the event is impeccable. Sadly, the competition did not reach its target quota by the end of Phase One, leading to the untimely cancellation of the event.

Still, thank you for your support. Rest assured that we will be returning bigger and better next year, so stay tuned on our social media page for future announcements.

Let’s give it up to our first disco jockey, 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗱𝗮!

Despite her reputation as a ruthless CAP — known for mercilessly dropping teams that fail to check in, cracking down on AI users, and blocking judges from ranking if they are no-shows in break rounds — 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘀, 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁, 𝗮 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Much of her time has been devoted to reviving dormant debate institutions and building new ones across Visayas and Mindanao, guided by her belief that debate should be accessible to all.
