𝟰𝟯 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻, 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼!

As Batch Manuel Conde-Eddie Romero awaits our last sunset on Mount Makiling, we would like to thank everyone for showing their support not only in seeing 𝕯𝖆𝖆𝖓𝖌𝖙𝖆𝖑𝖆 to the end, but also in joining us carve out our paths for the last six years. It’s been a long journey, and though the time to map out different paths has come upon us, we hope that the light we’ve brought and carried will serve as a reminder that no matter where we are, where we’ve come from and where we’re headed, when the sun sets and the night comes, we are all looking up at the same stars in the night sky.

𝘼𝙣𝙤 𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙠𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙠𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙜𝙖𝙬𝙞𝙣 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙜𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖?

A one-act play written by Kaya Mandala B. Novicio, and staged last April under the direction of ’s graduating student, Peter James A. Castillo, 𝑵𝒖𝒏𝒈 𝑼𝒎𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒏 𝒏𝒈 𝑲𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒏, 𝑵𝒂𝒔𝒂’𝒏 𝑲𝒂? follows a mundane day at Cyndi Kato’s parlor— a salon located in a world that literalizes the phenomenon of pag-ulan ng kagandahan. As it had just rained the night before, Cyndi, the parlor owner, together with her right-hand woman, Samantha, deals with the decline of the number of customers in their business. Throughout the day, we get to take a peek at the beauty ideals of the few people inside the parlor— Cyndi, Samantha, Linda, Mother, and Katkat. Though fleeting, their appearances hold expository parlor banter that unveil the three-dimensionality of the feminine Filipino experience.

𝑨𝒓𝒂𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒔 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒔 is Ral Carmona’s first fiction novel, and it explores the life of Oena, showing how she goes through the motions of every day and how certain events influence the way she goes about the next. Its chapters’ segmented format gives way for so much to unfold, even welcoming different perspectives every now and then to show how other characters experience the same or similar circumstance.

A once empty hall carved by the pandemic’s sudden communal fissure transformed into the bustling centerplace of narratives, contemplations, and revelations directed by fifteen senior student-artists of the Philippine High School for the Arts. Grounded in the stimulation of human senses, 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒛𝒂 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒅𝒐 ultimately is a shared navigation of the body that makes up a human community; a meeting point between light and dark, where a flurry of conversations transpire.

There are bodies of work that affect uneasy encounters – notions of loss, power, propaganda, prejudice, family; of gaze, healing, obstruction, colonialism, tradition and reform. We stand in resistance, in solidarity with the protests carried on the backs of people from all walks of life. 𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒔, 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒛𝒂 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒅𝒐.

Exhibit opens on June 4 (4PM to 7PM), and runs until June 15, 2024, accepting walk-ins from 9AM to 4PM from Tuesdays to Saturdays at the Parola U.P. Fine Arts Gallery, Multipurpose Hall.

Join us on June 8, 2024 for the walkthrough and artists talks from 2PM to 5PM at the said venue.
