From the bottom of our hearts, the City Government of Lamitan extends our THANK YOU to everyone who made the Lami-Lamihan Festival 2025 a resounding success!

To our performers, participants, partners, sponsors, volunteers, security and medical teams, media, and the ever-energetic people of Lamitan—You’ve shown the world the true colors of our culture, the strength of our unity, and the beauty of our traditions.

Special thanks to our local artisans, farmers, fisherfolk, youth, and elders for keeping our heritage alive. To our guests and visitors—thank you for celebrating with us. We hope you bring with you not just memories, but a deeper love for the Yakan and Lamiteño spirit.

Passion, Grit, and Yakan Pride: Another Unforgettable Street Dance Showdown ✨🫡

For over two decades, the Street Dance Competition has been a vibrant stage for local talents to express the Yakan culture through dance. It's a powerful avenue for cultural expression, showcasing the artistry and creativity woven into stories inherited from our ancestors.

Every intricate choreography, every perfected ex*****on, every late night, and every ounce of grit and dedication led to the over-the-top performances we witnessed. It was another year of greatness for these talented individuals.

Madrasatuz Zehra Wins 42nd Lami-Lamihan Festival's Maliguey Competition👏

On June 26th, the City Government of Lamitan, in partnership with the Bangsamoro Commission on the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, proudly presented the Maliguey Competition.

The 'maliguey' is a highly decorative structures, often crafted to resemble miniature mosques or multi-tiered towers, burst with an abundance of food, money, textiles, and festive adornments. Each one embodies deep cultural weight, serving as a centerpiece for the Pagtammat ceremony (celebrating a child's Qur'an studies completion) and a testament to Islamic education and family devotion. It's also a cherished element in weddings—a significant gift for the bride, a symbol of reconciliation, and a beautiful act of charity.

A huge round of applause and heartfelt congratulations to Madrasatuz Zehra for their outstanding artistry and dedication, earning them the top spot in this year's Maliguey Competition!

We'd also like to extend a special shout-out to the other four amazing entries! Their equally stunning maliguey creations truly showcased the diverse talent and commitment to preserving this beautiful cultural art form right here in Lamitan City. 🥳
