The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) Region VI, chaired by OCD Region VI Director Raul Fernandez, has issued Memorandum No. 89, Series of 2025, directing all Provincial, City, and Municipal DRRMCs in Western Visayas to implement pre-emptive evacuation in all high-risk areas due to the projected impacts of Super Typhoon βUwan.β
Based on PAGASA advisories, βUwanβ is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday and may bring widespread heavy to torrential rains and strong winds across large portions of the country. The typhoon is described as very large, with a diameter extending from Batanes to Bohol, which may result in significant effects even in areas far from the center.
In view of this, all LDRRMCs across Region VI are instructed to:
1. Conduct pre-emptive evacuation in identified high-risk barangays and coastal zones
2. Activate their Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) and ensure close coordination with the Regional DRRMC Operations Center
3. Ensure readiness of evacuation centers and stockpile adequate food, water, medicine, and health supplies
4. Disseminate timely warnings to communities, especially vulnerable groups
Director Fernandez said the directive aims to minimize casualties and damages that may result from the effects of the super typhoon.
For coordination, the RDRRMC Operations Center may be reached through:
