There is a special kind of magic in the moment a medal is placed around a runner’s neck. It’s the weight of the distance, the early mornings, and the sheer determination finally coming to rest.

But at the EmpowHer Half Marathon, that medal meant even more.

In this photo, a volunteer from Gender Watch Against Violence and Exploitation - GWAVE, the very organization we ran to support is the one honoring our runner at the finish line. It’s a powerful reminder that while this race is about celebrating women, the mission to end violence and exploitation is a journey we all walk TOGETHER.

To the men and women of GWAVE who stood at the finish line: thank you for being our loudest cheerleaders.

Runners, here are the official gun start times for the EmpowHER Half Marathon. Please arrive early to check-in and be at the starting line before your category begins.

🏃‍♀️ 21KM – Gun start: 3:00AM
🏃‍♀️ 12KM – Gun start: 4:00AM
🏃‍♀️ 6KM – Gun start: 4:30AM

Give yourself enough time to warm up, settle in, and get ready for the run. Let’s start strong and make every stride count.
