All clustered choreographers for the Lawihan Festival are requested to attend an important meeting on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 1:00 PM.

The meeting will be held at the Barangay Session Hall. This will cover important matters regarding the Street Dancing and Lawihan Mardi Gras.

Your presence is highly encouraged to ensure proper coordination and smooth preparation for the upcoming event.

Please be informed that for the upcoming Lawihan Festival Street Dancing and Mardi Gras, the original seven (7) contingents have been reorganized into four (4) clustered sitios.

With this, there will now be four (4) official contingents competing in the event.

This clustering aims to strengthen coordination, showcase unity, and ensure a more dynamic and organized presentation from each group.

We encourage everyone to support their respective clustered sitios and continue the spirit of cooperation and celebration.

The organizing committee proudly presents the official list of contingents for this year’s Street Dancing and Mardi Gras competition!

We are now inviting talented, creative, and passionate individuals who are willing to serve as choreographers for each contingent. This is a great opportunity to showcase your skills, creativity, and cultural vision while contributing to the success of our celebration.

👉 For interested choreographers:
You may directly coordinate with the assigned District Councilors of your preferred contingent. They will assist you with the necessary details, guidelines, and coordination processes.

• Each contingent is encouraged to have a dedicated choreographer.
• Collaboration with the district is highly encouraged to ensure unity and smooth preparation.
• Early coordination is advised to allow ample time for rehearsals and concept development.

The first ever Lawihan Festival 2009 of Malapascua Island Daanbantayan Cebu. It was launched in May 11, 2009.

Lawihan Festival is inspired by the word of elongated tail called "lawi". Lawi is a thresher shark that can only be found in Malapascua Island.

There are 8 contingents who are competing for Lawihan Festival 2009. The dancers will be showcasing how Malapascua Island is bountiful with its own nature and culture, also they will be portraying how divers will see thresher shark in Malapascua, particularly the Monad Shoal dive site.

According to Greeg Rubio, tourism officer of Daabantayan "the festival launching was done successfully and it will be more added to the identity of Malapascua Island."
