Community Writing and Zine-Making Workshop for Students" scheduled for April 25, 2026, 8am-5pm, at the City Museum of Cagayan de Oro.

Cagayan de Oro Welcomes Indian Ambassador in Cultural Tourism Showcase

The local government of Cagayan de Oro, through the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office led by Mark Kenneth Jalapadan, through its Marketing, Promotions, and Events Division, hosts a distinguished delegation led by Indian Ambassador Harsh Kumar Jain, together with Assistant Secretary for International Relations Lilian M. De Leon, for a curated city tour showcasing its cultural landmarks and tourism potential.

Organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region X, the activity is led by Regional Director Bruce A. Colao, CESO V, and City Director Ellaine Josephine B. Depaur, DM, CESE.

The delegation visits key heritage and cultural sites, including the Museo de Oro, City Museum of Cagayan de Oro and Heritage Studies Center, St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral, Gaston Park, and the Ginama OTOP Hub.

Each stop offers a distinct narrative of the city. Museo de Oro and the City Museum preserve centuries of Mindanaoan history and indigenous heritage, reinforcing the importance of cultural conservation. The St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral and Gaston Park stand as enduring symbols of faith, resilience, and the city’s colonial past. Meanwhile, the Ginama OTOP Hub highlights local craftsmanship and entrepreneurship, promoting community-based tourism and inclusive economic growth.

The visit highlights how tourism connects people and cultures, while opening opportunities for partnership and growth.
