𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗣𝗕𝗔’𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝟰-𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘁.

PBA legend Allan Caidic expressed concern with the league’s plan to implement the four-point shot beginning with the 2024 Governors’ Cup on August 18.

In an interview with Sportalakan on Thursday, Caidic said he feared that the younger players might emulate their PBA idols by also trying to shoot from the 27-foot arc.

“Ang concern ko diyan ‘yung mga bata, mga grassroots baka i-emulate ‘yun at an early age, kaya siguro nasa coaches na lang din ang pagkocontrol niyan,” Caidic said.

“It is concerning sa development ng bata eh, kasi ine-emulate ng mga bata ‘yung ginagawa ng professional players, kaya ‘yung iba diyan titira at titira talaga sa four-point shot,” he added.

However, Caidic understands where the PBA is coming from by implementing the four-point shot, which was first used in the PBA All-Star, as they want to regain the interest of the hoop fans.

“Well, initially, kung titignan mo, it will add curiosity sa mga fans,” Caidic said. “Alam naman natin ang PBA is not just basketball, kundi its entertainment, kaya baka makatulong sa curiousity ng mga manonood.”

“Kung makikita mo how successful ‘yung four-point play nung PBA All-Star talagang tinatry ng mga players na maka shoot, but ‘yung general impact sa mga basketball aficionados baka magkaroon ng debate,” he added.

Caidic, considered one of the greatest shooters in the Philippines, said the success of the four-point play lies in whether the PBA players can adapt to it.

“Ang four-point shot good for entertainment lang talaga, for PBA All-Star Games, pero dahil in-adapt sa PBA, tignan natin kung maka-adapt ‘yung mga players, huwag lang muna ‘yung mga bata,” Caidic said. 📄FASTBREAK

Who Are The Most Efficient Players In The PSL Global Games?

Crack tandems were able to sparkle in the recent PSL Global Championship Challenge as dynamic duos from champion teams from the Philippines-Davao, Thailand-Traill and North America-NABA were able to keep ahold of their respective squads.

Jimz Aaron Lulab and John Eimrod Rodulfa of the Philippines, Jespher Kurihara and Don Wayde Basadre of Thailand and Jagger Versoza and CP Albano of North America emerged as the more efficient players in the flagship tournament of the Pilipinas Super League.

Known for his hustle and toughness on both ends of the floor, Lulab topped the department in the +/- with 113 and efficiency points of 97.

His teammate, Rodulfa, the Most Valuable Player in both the 2004 division of the National Finals and the Global Championship Challenge, garnered 91 in +/- and an efficiency of 100.

Over at the Born 2008 division, the pair of Versoza and Albano kept things under control for North America, which won the crown against the Philippines-Pampanga squad.

Versoza, MVP in the said category, picked up 151 +/- followed by Albano with 145+/-.
Kurihara led the way in the Born 2006 division with 165 +/- while teammate, MVP winner Basadre, placing second with 149 +/-.

KINGS OF THE BOARDS | Belen, Brannen, Tulabut take center stage in PSL Global Games

Liorezen Joachim Belen and Lucas Brannen of Canada-GIGG aren’t just your typical scorers, but they proved themselves to be more than just a one-dimensional player as they led the just concluded PSL Global Championship Challenge in rebounding.

On top of emerging as the second best scorer in the Born 2006 division with an average of 22 points per game, Belen was a monster in grabbing the boards, pulling down 8.6 caroms per outing, including leading the offensive rebounding with four each game.

Brannen, on the other hand, was more active in getting the offensive boards where he led that category with an average of 4.2 per outing.

Chester Tulabut of the Philippines-Pampanga team has also been a workhorse in rebounding and he led the 2008 division with 10.1 per game.

Like Belen and Brannen, Tulabut was also the best in getting the offensive boards, grabbing 5.4 per game.
