It is a youth-oriented campaign developed by YouthLEAD Philippines to advocate action among the Filipino youth on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UNMDGs) at the community level using the vehicle of transformational leadership. The campaign was launched in September 2012 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol where 650 youth leaders representing 130 organizations joined. WHAT ARE THE UNMDGS? Th
e UNMDGS were adopted in September 2000 by the United Nations General Assembly and formed as a blue print of action among world's nations, all by the target year of 2015. These goals are:
1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2. Achieve universal primary education
3. Promote gender equality and empower women
4. Reduce child mortality
5. Improve maternal health
6. Combat HIV-AIDS, malaria, and other diseases
7. Ensure environmental sustainability
8. Global partnerships for development
WHAT WILL BE THE CONCRETE OUTPUT OF THE PROJECT? The concrete result of the campaign will be the Youth Catalyst Projects (YCPs), which is chosen every year by the I Transform! Campaign Consortium and the Local Partners Group. The YCPs, representative of the criteria of the UNMDGs, cover the following commitments: Education, Environment, Health, and, Partnership and Participation. Every year, the accomplishments of the YCPs will be presented in the I Transform! Young Leaders Convention. The goal is to have 50 YCPs, beyond the deadline of the 2015 UNMDGs. WHAT ARE THE PRINCIPLES OF I TRANSFORM CAMPAIGN? The I Transform! Campaign moves in a two-pronged approach. First is the facilitation of self-transformation, hence the word “I”, as basic requisite to the higher goal of community transformation, which is the second. YouthLEAD Philippines believes that transformation begins in oneself and that every small gesture of positive change contributes to the bigger cause of social transformation. Moreover, I Transform! Campaign adheres to collective action (cooperation) as propellant to inclusive development. That youth organizations should work together if they are to create more tangible impacts in communities. WHO ARE THE CONVENERS? Collectively called the I Transform! Campaign Consortium, the member organizations are as follows: YouthLEAD Philippines, Philippine Society of Good Young Citizens, Institute for Youth Development Affairs of the Philippines, World Youth Alliance Asia-Pacific, Kabataang Inspirasyon ng Sambayanan, and Kabataang Pangarap ni Rizal. HOW CAN I HELP? You can show your care by extending assistance even in your small personal way by doing the possible actions:
1. Join the annual I Transform! Part of the registration proceeds go to the I Transform! Campaign Fund, which in turn, is used to fund the YCPs.
2. Donate cash or in-kind directly to the YCPs.
3. Sell I Transform! Memorabilia with proceeds going to the I Transform! Campaign Fund
