We’re thrilled to announce that TAONGA will be joining forces with The Night Canopy Markets on Friday, 5th December 2025, from 4PM – 8PM! ✨

Alongside the incredible regular market stallholders and food vendors, we’ll be adding a vibrant Polynesian twist — featuring youth performances, cultural dance, craft, and delicious island kai. 🌴🍍🎶

It’s going to be a vibey afternoon and evening celebrating connection, culture, and community — you won’t want to miss it!

TAONGA is a vibrant and colourful celebration of culture, centered around Northland Youth, our future leaders, visionaries and change makers.

It’s purpose is to connect school aged students throughout Te Tai Tokerau to celebrate ones heritage, cultural identity and pride through dance, music and the arts. When we know who we are, we know where we’re going.

The origins of TAONGA was and will remain a platform for Pasifika Youth to be inspired by thier peers, share knowledge(Taonga) and grow in thier cultural journey. With the inclusion of Ethnic Youth & Intergenerational Community groups to showcase as well, this event is set to provide a culinary feast of culture, food, art and craft stalls sprinkled throughout Putahi to create an exciting hub of community engagement and unity.

TAONGA has a trinity of meanings.
TAONGA is our children...
TAONGA is the cultural knowledge we share with others...
TAONGA means - Together As One Navigating Great Achievements.
