Festival of Parliament The ten-day “Festival of Parliament” runs from the 27th July to the 5th August. The Festival features a number of events for the public to enjoy.

Welcome to the first Festival of Parliament. The Festival brings together a range of events for you to find out more about your Parliament. Parliament is our house it is accessible for everyone to see and hear what happens within it’s walls and grounds. We can all be proud of our Parliament which provides a world renowned system of representation. We can also be proud to have had one of the longes

MPs, including Ron Mark and Adrian Rurawhe, will talk about the role of an MP and the differences between Government and Parliament, MPs and Ministers, and lists and electorates. Tonight Ngā Taonga Sound and Vision is showing The Ayes have it –Parliament on Film, newsreel, documentary and TV clips covering Parliament's history from 1910 to 2010 at 6pm. Nibbles and a cash bar from 5.30. Showing again Sunday and Tuesday afternoon – no refreshments at these sessions. At Thursday's 'What's the Difference' We're excited to have MPs Grant Robertson (Labour), Andrew Bayly (National) and David Clendon (Greens) join us to talk about their work and explain the differences between Government and Parliament, Ministers and MPs, list and electorate MPs. Bookings being taken now for 30 July. Ron Mark (NZ First) will be one of the MPs appearing at Monday's session.

Great start to the Festival of Parliament with the Capital 150 Celebrations over the weekend. Tonight is last night to see the light show. Starts 5.30pm-9pm, but may be later (6pm) depending on how soon it gets dark.

A bronze marker was laid in Wellington today by a former governor-general and the mayor as part of celebrations marking 150 years as the nation's capital.
