Wellington Waste Managers Kia ora! Newtown Festival is just around the corner and we are amped to roll out another epic waste minimisation effort! We need your help to reach our dreams!

Last year we divert 69% of our waste, this year we're aiming for 90%. Volunteers are needed at the 15 zero waste stations to help the public put their waste in the correct bin. We also need set-up and pack-down helpers. It's super fun, people are grateful for the help and you get to enjoy this awesome Festival pass you by. All volunteers will receive a 250g bag of Peoples Coffee and an IdealCup ke

Training will be provided on Thursday 2 March, 5:45-7pm at the Newtown Hall, 71 Daniell Street (not to be confused with the Community Centre in Colombo St!). Come along to check out what we'll be doing on the day and meet the crew! Please invite your friends and/or share this event! It's a big task and we need all the willing helpers we can get! Our most recent season where we took on more than ever!!

We worked at 11 events, diverted 6216kg of waste from landfill and achieved an average diversion rate of 73.6%. Our top diversion rate was 93% at the Weta Digital Christmas Party, closely followed by Round the Bays at 91% 🤩🙌

Here are some cool stats from our first season as Wellington Waste Managers -the 2018-2019 season! We worked at 7 events, diverted 4976kg of waste from landfill and achieved an average diversion rate of 73.9%.

Our top diversion rate was 86% at Coastella!

Since the beginnings of Wellington Waste Managers, we have successfully diverted 16,252kg of waste from landfill.

This is equivalent to 542 wheelie bins which have been sent to compost or recycling facilities and kept in circulation instead!👏
