Hi all. Unfortunately, it has not been possible to organise the event this year (2024) as the original team could not commit the time. Last year was organised by The Waterboy but again, it was not possible for them to take it on this year. If there is any group that would like to take it on, please do get in touch.

Here's a small snapshot of the beautiful day at the Piako Triathlon here in Morrinsville.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of our triathletes, their supporters, our wonderful marshals, volunteers, swim assistants, food and coffee carts, bouncy castle and rock climbing wall operators, fire brigade and every individual who made today possible. I had an absolute blast and loved seeing all of our kids and adults out enjoying the triathlon in the sun.

Plenty more highlights and pictures to come.

INFORMATION FOR ALL JUNIOR EVENTS

(NOVI BOBBIES, MINI MOOS, CALF CLUB & HOOF IT)

Pre arrival: Write your race number on your arm and pin your number to the shirt you will wear for the bike and run.

Arrival: you will be directed to the parking area on the main field - there is a walk to transition so make sure you can push your bike and carry everything easily.

Transition - is colour coded so please set up your bike etc. in the correct area (your colour is the colour of your race number). Please keep to a small space to ensure everyone can fit. Top Tip:Have a distinctive towel or bucket in transition to help identify your space.

Novi Bobbies are the only category that may have an adult helper in transition after race start. If you are an adult helper please wear the wristband supplied with the race number.

If your child is nervous about the swim they can use the Learner Pool or a kickboard in the big pool. There will be helpers in the pool.

Please make sure your child knows how many laps of the bike and run they need to do. Top Tip : The lap numbers are displayed on your race bib - 1 lap of both for Novi Bobbies and Mini Moos , 2 laps of both for Calf Club and 3 bike laps, 2 run laps for Hoof it (lap numbers are provided in your race pack). You can stand at the lap changeover points and remind them.

Junior swim leg: Novi Bobbies will have a parent helper, all other categories will be taken care of by our marshal and swim helpers. Novi Bobbies will be in the learner pool, Mini Moos can choose whether they use the learner pool or a flutterboard in the big pool. Calf Club - Swim is in the main pool to halfway and back x 4. Hoof It is 4 lengths of the main pool. You snake up and down the pool ducking under the lane ropes at the shallow end and leaving via the disability access ramp. Swim guides will help out with this.

Junior bike leg - Your child will not be allowed to leave transition for the bike leg without a good fitting helmet and properly tied shoes. Top Tip: It is easier to ride on grass if your tyres are fully pumped.

Junior run leg: Shoes are also compulsory for the run leg - non negotiable Top tip: Use elastic lace as nervous fingers will struggle with shoe tying. Many adults use these laces to save time too!

INFORMATION FOR ALL SENIOR EVENTS
(RAGING BULLS, MAD COWS & HERD MENTALITY)

Pre arrival: Write your race number on your arm and pin your number to the shirt you will wear for the bike and run.

Arrival: you will be directed to the parking area on the main field - there is a walk to transition so make sure you can push your bike and carry everything easily.

Adult swim leg: You will enter the water at short intervals Ladies - Gents - Teams. Within those categories there will be some self seeding required. You may dive in (be aware it is the shallow end 1.2m) and tumble turn - you snake up and down the pool ducking under the lane ropes at the shallow end and leaving via the disability access ramp.

Adult bike leg: transition is on the field by Gate 24. The bike takes place within the grounds (not on the road). Please be safe and mindful of other riders.5 laps then finish. If you wish to do less laps, that is okay too!

Adult run leg: A mix of gravel and grass. Three laps then finish! Teams are welcome to cross the finish line together!

Finish: The finish area is where you can hang around, get some food, catch up with friends, celebrate your achievement with a huge number of photos and where prizegiving will take place. It is close to the parking area so anything you need for that time can be left in your car - please include a water bottle for the finish line - refills will be available.

Pack Up: Please do not pack up your transition area until we announce the last person has left for the run - it is demoralising for the last kids through transition if half the area is already packed up and it creates a health and safety issue. If you do pack up and put bikes onto your car we strongly recommend a good bike lock - bike theft is rife and unfortunately events like this are targeted.

Marshalls
All of our marshals are kind volunteers. Please be respectful and follow marshal instructions at all times throughout the event - they are there to help keep everyone safe!
