Loaded up utes and tractors descended on the Tarras Hall carpark on Tuesday for Lindis Catchment Group’s agri-plastic recycling event 🚜

With Agrecovery’s mobile plastic shredding truck on site, attendees were able to watch containers being shredded while enjoying a free pie and coffee - courtesy of Otago Catchment Community.

Over 500 agrichemical containers were dropped off, and 80 small and bulk bags 🎉

Central Otago District Council and Otago Regional Council staff, along with the Agrecovery truck driver, were there to answer rural waste questions and talk about what happens to plastic after it’s shredded. Check out agrecovery.co.nz/programmes/container-recycling/

The event was well received, with one farmer noting it’d be great to have every month! Not sure we can make that happen, but fortunately being a Agrecovery member means you can be part of their rural recycling programme, including dropping off containers at local collection sites - agrecovery.co.nz/ 💧

OCC has 2 types of Funding?
Kick-start Funding and Direct Group Funding
Kick-start Funding: The purpose of this funding is to enable Otago Catchment Groups to build momentum towards achieving their visions for improving water quality and local environments, by assisting with start-up costs for new groups and enhancing the momentum of established groups. OCC Kick-start Funding can be applied for anytime.

Direct Group Funding: The purpose of this fund is to support Otago Catchment Groups by providing the opportunity to employ personnel, to enable groups to continue their work and activities. This funding is open for two rounds each year - in April and November.
