Whangarei 5.1.2 re-direction
After some in-depth conversations with local Iwi , we( Chris and Helen) have been educated around the sacred significance of the maungas here in Whangarei region . His and Hers Events Ltd have decided to withdraw the concession application with the Department of Conservation for the permission to host Whangarei’s 5.1.2 mountain challenge in respect of these recent learnings
What does this mean? - What changes? It is all positive!
You can still do the challenge should you wish to , the rules remain the same.YES, It is free! , there is no sign up process , no results will be assessed . The tracks (currently) are open to the public .
This event will no longer be moderated by His and Hers Events ltd . There will be no T-shirt sorry folks.
We have appreciated the incredible support from across the country and mainly here at home .
Those that jumped on board will always have the collectors item T-shirt and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your sweat blood and tears for 2024 mountain efforts ! You all share something pretty unique.
Going forward, there is nothing stopping you from accepting the challenge for the 2025 season however if you would like to know more please do not hesitate to reach out to us to better understand.
Great things are on the horizon . His and Hers will be bringing you the ultimate challenge .

Whangarei 5.1.2 season is almost here !

Stoked to say we are expecting 40 or so of you 5.1.2 enthusiasts at Frings 530pm for a bevy on us , & some hot chips to accompany our wee awards ceremony and story sharing . So dig up your 5 mountain memories and finshers T, come on down .
For those meeting at 5pm for the jog around the Hatea loop , unfortunately, Chris and I are recovering from the winter ills and chills so have handed over the lead to the one and only Mr Hayden Bell Run Adjacent

Calling all 5.1.2 enthusiasts and challenge Finishers and podium runners

We invite you to a catchup and story telling early evening Thursday 11th July 530pm onwards at Frings Bar & Eatery

The first beer or non alcoholic is on us .
Few bowls of hot chips to warm the winter soul.
Pop down after work , or if traveling take the day off . Come join the 5.1.2 community.
The coins will be awarded to Fastest Female and Male

Submitted at 7pm last night , 5 hours to spare.
MONDAY madness for Les Boucher and Alvin Johnson .Stunning weather and cramp were mentioned . 6 and a half hours for their completed 512 Challenge keeps these two locals honest 💯

Here they come ! The final finishers of Whangarei5ONETWO .These legends whipped up from the City of Sails to get it done on Sunday after a DNF attempt in January due to the heat ,but they came back and accomplished it as a team 😀

They noted that it was a FABULOUS day and that they confirm, all will be avoiding stairs for some time to come 🤣☝️

What a way to send off the first year of the Challenge!
We had 63 finishers out of 83 registered !
We are so chuffed and proud to have got to that total .

Folk have till Midnight tonight to submit any attempts ⛰️
