I used to come last in events. Like actually last. That secret fear of any back of pack runner? I’ve lived it. When I was a kid, my family even used to make jokes about it every time I did a running race.

These days? I’ve worked my way up. It took hard work and it mostly took a whole lot of patience (also strength training… you know who you are, athletes this is directed at!). It’s a work in progress and there’s more to come!

If you’ve ever thought coaching isn’t for you because you’re not good enough at this thing we love, I’m here to tell you it is. I’ve been where you are and I’m here to help you out!

Now a question: what’s your biggest goal you’re scared to say out loud? Mine’s a 22 hour miler. 😎 What’s in your future?

Team LFS at Tarawera (well, part of us!) keeping up the tradition of 100% finisher rate amongst LFS athletes at TUM 🙌 (Clearly by how clean we are, this was before the race!)

Super proud of all my athletes who raced this weekend. More to come on the conditions but suffice it to say it is by far the hardest race I’ve ever done, twice as hard as when I finished it two years ago, and anyone who even attempted it - at any distance - let alone finished it is an absolute legend in my eyes.

We hear rumours that .sy.jo will be doing her first ultra here next year… 🧐

POV: You take your mate for a long run and he has a really good time.

Who else is back at their day job this week and dreaming of being back here?

“It’s trail running! We don’t tell people there’s hiking!” Educating about the big trail running secret on today’s long run 🤣

By far the greatest part of being a coach is being able to witness some of my athletes’ amazing feats. I sat down to try and round up 2025 in LFS athlete achievements and it was impossible: not only were there too many race results that blew my mind, but there were also the quiet hard working achievements that count for so much - the consistent miles, day in day out.

But it’s the last day of the year and we love a list, so here’s the extremely abridged list of my athlete achievements that really blew me away this year, and made me so proud to be a coach.

5) Survival at - if you weren’t there, it’s hard to explain just how hard conditions were. We started in a hail storm and dealt with winds that averaged around 40kmh on an exposed course. Seeing .sy.jo , and tough it out, never give in and finish strong (all running up that final hill) was just incredible, and testament to the grit and strength of these wāhine toa.
4) at Luxmore Grunt. This is a tough race and it was Katie’s second attempt. Amazingly, she knocked off 37 minutes - well over a minute per km - and in trademark Katie style, seemed barely aware of just how insane that was!
3) Sticking with - running her 18th Kepler in 10:39, a full 39 minutes faster than the year before, and her fastest time since 2022 (despite the fact she claims she’s getting slower every year). Oh, and - took out her age group. An honour to witness!
2) Our half marathon specialist at - on a difficult, hilly course, took a full 16 minutes off. Kimm had set herself what she thought was a challenging goal of going under 2:15 for the first time. And then the hills were added in. And the trail. And then she showed up, and smashed it in 2:11.
1) And how could any list be complete without dominating ? In impossible conditions the previous year Tom had a brutal late in the game DNF, and he was out for revenge. And revenge he got, taking a savage 2hrs 40mins off his 100k time. Phenomenal.

To all in Team LFS, I am so so proud of you. Let’s make 2026 even better 💪🙌

We all love an end of year list, so here we go: my picks for Gear of the Year 2025.

1. Cloudultra Pros. The level up from the Cloudultra. These babies got me through Kepler when I’d owned them for less than a week.
2. - look, like the rest of the world, I jumped on these after both Sam and Phil wore them for Dead Cow. They are worth the hype. As a bonus I feel like an 80s tennis player in them. No, no toe shots for this one - go see one of recent reels for those.
3. Minimus Lite jacket. Bought my first jacket in over five years only to discover technology has come a long way. This thing repels water like it’s made from oil. Purchased from
4. Lumenglow jacket. Loki is vanta black and we do a lot of running in hunting blocks. I would prefer him to not be shot. This keeps him out of mischief.
5. X5 - the new toy that you’re going to be seeing a lot of in these parts
6. .snails OG hat. Scientifically proven to help you run 75% more uphills.
7. Fastest hairstyle of the year - double French braid. Don’t complain if your hair isn’t long enough - take some biotin and sort it out. This hair will shave 8% off any PR.
8. Drink of the year, Strawberry & Kiwi, narrowly defeating tequila on Mt Luxmore. A hill I will die on. (Celsius, that is, though if I keep drinking tequila on Mt Luxmore then maybe that too.)

What was your best gear this year?

The age old question: go around a puddle or send it straight through? Loki’s choice is clear 😂

Come meet me - Coach Fleur, and find out a little of why you should train with me.

Since I took up running 14 years ago I’ve been on a roller coaster fitness journey that took me right from the back of every pack to achieving goals I wouldn’t have thought possible - including helping others achieve their own.

I was lucky enough to find a coach ( ) who not only made it possible for me to achieve my fitness dreams, but who unlocked and inspired me to help others.

No matter where you’re at on your fitness journey, I’ve been there too - I can meet you there and together we can get you where you want to go. 🏃🏃‍♀️🏔️🌳🐶🏆

If you’ve got big goals for 2026 - let’s talk!

At this time of year, enjoying a run is more important than any perfect split or target. Get out there and embrace your inner Loki: trails, side quests, and an epic view.

Trail running: it is style, it is grace, and then sometimes it’s falling on your face 😂
