Cycling New Zealand have locked in the Marathon MTB National titles set for iconic kiwi events over next four years👌

​Two of New Zealand’s top Cross Country mountain bike destinations will double as Cycling New Zealand’s UCI Marathon MTB National Championships.

The Marathon MTB National titles will be decided at the Whaka100 MTB Marathon in Rotorua in 2025 and 2027, and the Tombstone Bike Race at Hanmer Springs in 2026 and 2028.

The Marathon MTB National Championship is the longest of the championship events available in NZ, and is a selection race for the UCI Marathon World Championships.

South Island MTB enthusiasts, get ready—The Tombstone Bike Race is making a comeback!

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Hanmer Springs, this event showcases the region’s stunning trails, including the iconic Tombstone Track.

For year one, riders can take on the 65km or 30km MTB marathon, with a long-term vision to expand into a three-day festival featuring:
✅ XC, Gravity & Hill Climb events
