Street Clean-Up Impact

Before Earth day festival, volunteers joined our street clean-up crew and headed out to clean up the surrounding areas, in just under an hour they managed to clean up:

1.3kg soft plastics
1.9kg cardboard & paper
2kg bottles & cans
2.5kg glass bottles
5.2kg general rubbish

That’s the equivalent of one and a half wheelie bins of waste, all from nearby streets and the car park.

Every piece picked up is one less ending up in our waterways, our soil, and our ecosystems, so massive thanks to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in🌱

Our very first Kaipara Earth Day event was a huge success, with around 150 people braving the wild winds to come together and celebrate.

There was so much to explore and enjoy, kids and adults spent time:

♻ connecting with incredible local organisations caring for Te Taiao
💚making kites in the wind
🪱discovering tiger worms up close
🌍 learning about predators in our environment
♻️sharing kai
🌱swapping crops and produce
🎪and enjoying a bit of circus fun along the way!
