Today was a full‑circle moment for me. I walked into my adult ESOL class as a relief teacher at a high school in Christchurch and introduced myself, ready to engage the class for the day’s lesson. To my surprise, the class teacher had already shared my article in The Press with the students, using it as part of their unit on authentic cuisines from around the world.
The adult ESOL learners, most aged 50 and above and from many different countries, were so excited to see me in person. For a moment, I felt like a celebrity surrounded by enthusiastic paparazzi.
The experience reminded me that every part of your purpose can align toward a greater goal. So here’s to embracing all of it: being an amazing chef and cook, a dedicated English and media studies teacher, and continuing to grow into every other aspect of my purpose in life.
