CJM'S Events - The Documentary

What makes someone get up before sunrise to run a marathon?

Why do people keep coming back to the start line year after year?

At CJM'S Events, we've always believed that Every Number Has a Story.

This documentary takes you behind the scenes of CJM'S Events and explores the passion, dedication and community that have shaped our events over the past two decades. It's a story about far more than running, cycling and walking, it's about people challenging themselves, supporting one another and creating memories that last a lifetime. We love creating these for all participants.

Produced by Mya Hayward and Kranauw Oberholzer as part of their Broadcasting studies at ARA, this documentary captures the heart of CJM'S Events and what it takes to make these events possible.

A huge thank you to Mya & Kranauw for the time, creativity and passion they invested in producing this documentary. We're incredibly proud to share it with you.

If you've ever stood on one of our start lines—or are thinking about joining us for the first time—we hope you'll enjoy this journey.

"Everyone had a different route... everyone had a different story."

Welcome to Episode 4 of our Find Your Way Home – Finish Stories series, where we sit down with another participant from the inaugural Find Your Way Home to hear about their incredible journey back to the Finish Line at Halswell Quarry.

After boarding a bus wearing a blindfold, participants had no idea where they would start.

Once the blindfolds came off, the challenge began.

No phones.

Every team chose a different route, faced different decisions and experienced Christchurch in a completely unique way. That's what makes this event unlike anything else in New Zealand.

In this interview you'll hear:

Their first reaction after removing the blindfold.
How they decided which direction to go.

Find Your Way Home 2026 | Official Highlights | Christchurch

Welcome to the inaugural Find Your Way Home.

On Saturday 18 July 2026, 88 teams took on one of New Zealand's most unique running adventures.

The challenge sounded simple...

🙈 Be blindfolded.
🚌 Travel by bus to a mystery location.
📵 Hand over your phone, watch and GPS.
🏃 Find your way home.

But when the blindfolds came off, every team had to make one decision...

Which way do we go?

No two teams chose exactly the same route.

Some found the shortest path.
Some explored unfamiliar streets.
Some trusted instinct.
Some relied on local knowledge.

Every route was different.
Every decision mattered.
Every team created their own story.

This 4½-minute highlights video captures the excitement from registration at Halswell Quarry, the anticipation on the blindfolded bus journey, the mystery of the start, the determination throughout Christchurch, and the emotion of crossing the finish line.

It wasn't just a race...
It was an experience.

A huge thank you to every participant, volunteer, marshal, bus driver, sponsor and supporter who helped make the very first Find Your Way Home such an unforgettable day.

We can't wait to do it all again.
