You never forget walking down the hallowed steps to Ink bar and meeting Leslie for the first time.
She was a larger than life character with the best crazy laugh and more stories than Jackanory.
Always our biggest supporter for our Burnout nights there, and often while playing, i'd turn to see her in the DJ booth with me, throwing her hands in the air, then always offered to be our personal chauffeur afterward, again with more care for her wild stories than care for what was going on on the road!
She's gone but never forgotten and i'm over the moon to be playing at this event being held in her memory.
One of the organisations we will be donating the ticket sales to is Crescendo.
They are a social enterprise specialising in audio recording, sound design, music production and a dedicated audiobook and podcast studio.
All the profits generated from the Crescendo Studio funds Crescendo's Youth Programmes: music mentoring, content creation and wellbeing courses for rangatahi aged 15-24.
Their mission is to engage all rangatahi through creativity to create positive futures in our communities. They believe all youth are innately gifted, and through creative programmes, they aim to connect and empower them to discover their potential.
This is an organisation that we think Lesley would love us to support as everyone knows how deeply involved she was within our music scene here in Aotearoa. She also had a huge amount of love and support for our younger generation coming up through the music scene.
