ight to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts. The Founder Steve Mbogo has always been engaged with charity work all over the world. From an early age he would set up visits to children homes around the country with his friends and relatives to donate food and learning materials to children who are in need and the less privilege. Imagine a world in which children are free from poverty, live in happiness and have open access to adequate education. Imagine a world where children, even those born in a disadvantaged part of the world, can be physically, mentally and emotionally healthy for the road ahead. Well, Save a Child Foundation (SCF) is working to make this world a reality. The organization’s overall mission is to empower and educate young individuals to be self-sufficient leaders in their communities. We believe this is achieved not only through knowledge, it is also necessary for children to be healthy and to work collectively to create better solutions to some of the challenges they may face in the future. To begin to accomplish this goal, SCF has established distinctive initiatives. Each of these initiatives have a specific mission but all reflect our core vision; to implement sustainable programs and projects to improve access to education and health, while alleviating global poverty. Our first initiative, “Education is Strength,” focuses on providing sustainable solutions to allow underprivileged children gain a solid foundation and the tools needed to advance in their communities through access to a safe education. We have a comprehensive educational approach that is able to identify the root causes of why children are either not attending school at all or are under-performing in the system they are provided with. Save A Child Foundation believes in the power of knowledge as a catalyst to help young people create a future where they can live their potential. We know that enriched minds collectively create better solutions to whatever challenges their communities face. Children who stay in school earn higher wages and tend to have smaller families that are vaccinated, well-nourished and educated. They gain the skills to start community businesses, find their voice and choose peaceful paths to positive change. Children living in extreme rural poverty trail their urban counterparts in access to education and the privilege to seek improved life opportunities. Save A Child Foundation’s programs provide sustainable solutions that help disadvantaged children gain a solid education. Our comprehensive approach targets the root causes of why children are not attending school or are underachieving when they are in school. Our success and continued growth is due to our reliance on local knowledge and expertise to develop solutions that are viable and sustainable in the communities and cultures where we work. We invest our resources locally, in the countries where we work. This helps boost local economies and keeps costs low.
