ONE YEAR OF IMPACT, UNITY, AND SERVICE
ONDO EKIMOGUN YOUTH CONGRESS (OEYC)

This month marks one year since the inauguration of the elected Executives of the Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress (OEYC), under the purposeful leadership of Engr. Kayode Folajogun.

Indeed, it has been a year of dedication, sacrifice, progress, and unwavering commitment to the development of the youth and Ondo Kingdom at large.

To commemorate this special milestone, the Executives organized a novelty football match with members of the Congress, symbolizing unity, togetherness, and the spirit of sportsmanship that OEYC continues to promote among the youth. In addition, cash gifts were presented to the first ten members who arrived early for the Congress meeting held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, as a way of encouraging commitment, punctuality, and active participation in youth activities.

Within just one year in office, the OEYC administration has been able to record several notable achievements, including:

- Sensitization campaigns against drug abuse and cultism, which gave birth to a platform that has drastically reduced such social vices within our communities.
- Successful intervention in the long-standing dispute between Arijeninu Jesu Crescent and Olasunkanmi Quarters, Wao Wao Upper Ayeyemi Community, thereby restoring peace and harmony.
- Facilitation of various employment opportunities for youths across Ondo Kingdom.
- Facilitation of empowerment programs, skill acquisition trainings, and startup support for hundreds of youths through the support of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, CFR, Jilo III, the Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom.
- Facilitation of another phase of empowerment through the FADENI Foundation, with several beneficiaries receiving startup funds.
- Organization of sporting activities that helped discover talents, foster unity, encourage peace, and strengthen youth engagement in Ondo Kingdom.
- Contribution toward efforts aimed at improving power supply within the Kingdom.
- Facilitation of the distribution of prepaid electricity meters to several communities, with ongoing efforts to ensure wider coverage across the Kingdom.
- Protection of the interests and welfare of youths to ensure fairness and justice at all times.
- Installation of youth executives in several streets within Ondo Kingdom in line with the constitutional responsibilities of OEYC, with many more communities showing interest in joining the Congress.

It is important to note that the Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress does not operate on any statutory allocation or budget. These achievements would not have been possible without the immense support, encouragement, and partnership of individuals and organizations who genuinely believe in youth development and the progress of Ondo Kingdom.

We therefore extend our heartfelt appreciation to:

1. His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, CFR, Jilo III, The Osemawe and Paramount ruler of Ondo Kingdom.
2. Ondo Development Committee under the chairmanship of Chief Oye Akinsulire

REPORT ON ALLEGED EXTORTION OF MOTORISTS BY POLICE OFFICERS AT PELE AXIS, ONDO KINGDOM

The attention of the leadership of the Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress (OEYC), the umbrella body of all youth groups, fora, and associations within Ondo Kingdom, was recently drawn to the activities of some police officers stationed around the Pele axis in Ondo Kingdom, who were reportedly engaging in acts of extortion against motorists plying the road.

During a routine observation in the area, the President of the Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress, Engr. Kayode Folajogun, confronted the officers regarding the complaints and reports from road users about the alleged harassment and unlawful collection of money from motorists.

The Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress wishes to reiterate that the primary responsibility of the Nigeria Police Force in any society is to maintain law and order, protect lives and property, prevent and detect crime, and ensure the safety and security of all citizens. Police officers are expected to carry out their duties with professionalism, integrity, and respect for the rights of members of the public.

Acts of intimidation, harassment, or extortion of motorists are not only unethical but also undermine the trust and confidence the public should have in law enforcement agencies.

The Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress therefore calls on all police officers operating within Ondo Kingdom to uphold the values and standards of the Nigeria Police Force and to discharge their duties in accordance with the law and established professional ethics.
Furthermore, the Congress urges motorists and other road users who encounter any form of extortion or misconduct by security personnel within Ondo Kingdom to promptly report such incidents to the Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress for appropriate documentation and necessary action.

The Congress remains committed to working with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure that justice, accountability, and mutual respect prevail in our community.

Report of Courtesy Visit to the DPO, Funbi Fagun Police Division

Today, 10th March 2026 the Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress (OEYC), the umbrella body of all youth forums and associations in Ondo East and West under the leadership of Engr. Kayode Folajogun, paid a courtesy visit to the newly posted Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Funbi Fagun Police Division, SP Cornelius Ogini.

The Youth President, accompanied by members of the OEYC executives, stakeholders, and operatives of the Peace and Safety Corps, visited the DPO at his office. During the meeting, the Youth President formally introduced the organization, its executives, and other stakeholders present. He also welcomed the new DPO to Ondo Kingdom, describing the town as one of the most peaceful cities in the South West and emphasizing the importance of sustaining that peace through collaboration between the police and the youths.

In his response, SP Cornelius Ogini expressed his appreciation to the youth body for the thoughtful visit and the warm reception accorded him. He assured the Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress of the police division’s 100% cooperation and support in the fight against crime and criminal activities within the kingdom.
The youth body also assured the DPO of its commitment to supporting security efforts. OEYC pledged to reach out to well meaning citizens of Ondo Kingdom, particularly landlords within Funbi Fagun Crescent, with the aim of reviving the long abandoned police patrol vehicle in the area to strengthen security operations.

Furthermore, the DPO acknowledged the importance of the Peace and Safety Corps, describing them as key partners in maintaining law and order within the community. He affirmed his readiness to work closely with them, recognizing their role as local security personnel established by the Osemawe-in-Council and the Ondo Development Committee (ODC). He emphasized that members of the corps are integral to community policing and would be actively involved in supporting the police in curbing criminal activities.

The DPO also noted the growing security concerns around Road 3, Funbi Fagun Crescent, where incidents such as motorcycle snatching and other criminal acts have been reported. He stated that some members of the Peace and Safety Corps would be strategically stationed in the area to help address these issues and enhance security presence.
Additionally, the DPO expressed his interest in meeting with a broader representation of youths in the kingdom. In response, the Youth President assured him that a suitable date would soon be arranged for a larger meeting involving youth leaders, the Chairman of the Ondo Development Committee (ODC), and representatives of the Osemawe-in-Council. The date for this engagement will be communicated in due course.

The visit ended on a positive note, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening collaboration, promoting community policing, and ensuring the continued peace and security of Ondo Kingdom.

Signed
Engr. Kayode Folajogun
President, OEYC.
