Michael Leavitt was the 20th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under President George W. Bush. He made the statement, “Everything we do before a pandemic will seem alarmist. Everything we do after will seem inadequate" prior to the outbreak of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

However, we can use the word "Pandemic" interchangeably with the challenges we face in our daily roles.

At the point of preparation, we brainstorm to a fault wherein we exhaust all ideas and it seems we have not give serious thoughts to the impending challenge.

Afterwards, if our fears become a reality, like it is currently. At the point of feedback, we seem to believe that we have not give our very best to fight the scourge and maybe this led to a "second wave."

So, what "Pandemic" are you fighting today, individually or as an organisation. Like the maxim of the Boys Scouts, "Be Prepared" and give it your best shot through your Communications strategy and tactics.

Just like the saying, The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. These words are usually credited to the acclaimed genius Albert Einstein.

If you have the intention of building a renowned brand, you cannot keep doing Public Relations the same way other people do it.

Many C-Suite Executives direct the affairs of the Public Relations cm External Communications team. In fact, some go to the extent of insisting on what they want the team to do.

Equally, you cannot totally rely on the successes of traditional media in the years past and not combine the strategy with the online part of it.

As said by , "if the point is for our company to get noticed, we can't do it the same as everybody else"

What are you doing differently in your Communications to the world about your products and services this new week?

Be different by doing something unexpected and remarkable

There is a Yoruba song, this is usually led by drummers who have identified the extra value in a man through his charisma and carriage. The lines of the song goes thus-

"Bàbá ni bàbá ńjẹ́, Bàbá ni bàbá ńjẹ́, Ò báà tàkìtì, kó o f’orísọlẹ̀, Bàbá ni bàbá ńjẹ́”

There is a difference between Baba and Bàbá in Yoruba Culture as expounded by the late Revd Dr ST Ola Akande and retold by Pa Ayo Odeku

Words are very heavy and in fact, they have huge consequences. The encoder and the decoder reads meaning to words passed from one another and this in turn generate responses which could be positive or negative.

For communicators, they do everything possible to judiciously use words; they find words that downplay the enormity of certain actions; they use words that would do not have negative interpretations to others and they place words carefully either in writing or in their speech.

You also have the opportunity to think through the meaning of the words you want to use before using them!

Today's quote can be a guiding principle for you as a current or prospective leader, consider the consequences of the words you are planning to use.

It's a new week to speak well and speak right. Please proceed to win the title, "Great Orator & Communicator"

Never lose the trust of a loyal Dog!

Today’s title is a metaphor of the point I would want to drive home.

According to the toptens.com, dogs are considered to be very loyal and these are the facts that are stated on the site- Dogs are loyal and want to stay with their owner all the time usually Cats run away and come back and run away and come back, etc. They stand up at anything that threatens their master. They always know that what to do at perfect situation and they don't normally disobey their master.

These features are also important in the lives of people; we are relational beings who put our trust in people and everyone needs to know that these attributes can wane as such, it is crucial to keep oiling the wheel of loyalty. It is really a big deal to keep the loyalty of people.

Be watchful so as not to break the loyalty of your spouse, family members, colleagues and acquaintances. Many times, people consider the trend of things before finally giving up!

Check the trend and let’s build a happy world in our dealings with people across all social strata.
