PERSONAL TESTIMONY:

FROM SIN, BACKSLIDING, AND RESTORATION TO GOD'S MERCY

Before I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ, I was a churchgoer without genuine repentance. Though I attended church activities, my heart was far from God. I lived a worldly lifestyle and was deeply immersed in secular entertainment Music. My worldly nickname at the time was "Raymond Usher." I was very good in most of Usher Raymond songs, especially "U GOT IT BAD" that was my favourite song I could sing and demonstrate the breakdown dance....

One of my nieces nickname me "Uncle Many men" because I could sing that song of 50 Cent title: Many men many many many men wish d3@th upon me Lord I don't cry no more, don't look to the sky no more, have mercy on me Lord, have mercy on my soul, some time my life turns cool, have mercy on many men.... Very well.

Music became the center of my life. I was so passionate about worldly music that I could sing and rap many of the popular R&B and rap songs of the day. I loved attending parties and rap competitions. Whether I was at home, on the farm, in school, or even in church, music occupied my thoughts and attention. It gradually became my priority, my obsession, and my identity.

As my attachment to worldly pursuits of music increased, my relationship with God diminished. My life lacked direction and purpose. There came a period when I left home for years, and my parents did not know my whereabouts. Looking back today, I can clearly see that I was spiritually lost and desperately needed God's mercy.

By the grace of God, a turning point came in my life at Bantaji 2004/2005, Taraba State, where I genuinely repented of my sins and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. There, I experienced the transforming power of the gospel. God forgave my sins, changed my heart, and gave me a new purpose for living.

After my conversion, I became passionate about serving God. I devoted myself to Christian service and evangelism. Those who knew me during those years can testify to the zeal and commitment with which I pursued the things of God.

However, as time passed and I began to pursue marriage, I made choices that drew me away from God's perfect will. Instead of patiently waiting for God's guidance, I drifted spiritually and eventually backslid. I entered a relationship arrangement that was outside God's design. What I thought would bring happiness eventually ended in pain and disappointment, because it was not approved by God.

Yet God's mercy did not abandon me.

Through that difficult experience, God reminded me that His plans are always better than our own. He graciously drew me back to Himself. The hunger and thirst for God that I had once experienced returned to my heart. I repented, returned to the Lord, and renewed my commitment to follow Him wholeheartedly.

As God continued to work in my life, He also gave me a new identity and a new vision. Through divine inspiration, I adopted the name Godly Success Survivor The Honest Grit Podcast. This name was born out of a personal covenant I made with God—that I would pursue success only in a godly way, without shortcuts, compromise, corruption, dishonesty, or ungodly gain.

The name also reflects the many painful experiences, trials, disappointments, setbacks, betrayals, and challenges that I have endured throughout my life's journey. By God's grace, I survived them all. Therefore, Godly Success Universal Technology Retail is not merely a name; it is a testimony of God's faithfulness, preservation, mercy, and sustaining power in my life.

My experiences have also strengthened my conviction to stand for righteousness. Because of what God has done in my life, I have developed a deep hatred for sin and everything that destroys human lives and dishonors God. I oppose dishonesty, stealing, lies, injustice, oppression, corruption, wickedness, and every form of evil. I believe that truth should never be sacrificed for personal gain.

Whether people appreciate me or criticize me for standing for the truth, my desire is to remain faithful to God and to a clear conscience. Over the years, I have lost opportunities, benefits, and advantages because I refused to compromise my convictions and faith. Yet I remain convinced that it is better to suffer loss while doing what is right than to gain temporary benefits through wrongdoing.

Life has not been without difficulties. I have experienced painful seasons, disappointments, betrayals, hardships, and challenges that tested my faith. Some of the experiences I have gone through are difficult to describe and have deeply shaped my journey. Yet through every trial, God has remained faithful.

In moments when I have faced situations beyond my strength, I have found comfort in God's Word:

"The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace." — Exodus 14:14.

I trust God to vindicate truth in His own time and according to His perfect wisdom. My confidence is not in revenge or retaliation, but in the righteous judgment and faithfulness of God. I also believe that anyone who is sincerely striving to live uprightly and facing hardship for doing what is right can find strength, comfort, and hope in God.

Today, my story is not one of personal achievement but of God's grace. If God could save me, restore me, preserve me through difficult seasons, and give me another opportunity to serve Him, then He can do the same for anyone who sincerely turns to Him.

The burden that eventually gave birth to The Gritpreneur Movement that was founded by me Ishaku Yusuf on 10th June, 2025 was rooted in this personal journey. It grew out of a desire to encourage people to embrace integrity, godly living, repentance, purpose, perseverance, and a genuine relationship with God. Its message is simple: success without integrity is failure, but true success is built upon faith, character, honesty, hard work, and obedience to God.

My Testimony Is Simple

🔹Sin promises pleasure but brings bo***ge.
🔹Backsliding brings sorrow and spiritual loss.
🔹God's mercy is available to those who genuinely repent.
🔹God's grace can restore what sin has damaged.
🔹Jesus Christ still saves, restores, and transforms lives today.
🔹True success is found in God's will and not in worldly shortcuts.
🔹Integrity is an investment that never loses its value before God.

If you are living in sin, return to God.

If you have backslidden, return to God.

If you have never surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, come to Him today.

The same God who changed my life can change yours. The same God who restored me can restore you. The same God who preserved me through life's storms can preserve you.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." — 2 Corinthians 5:17.

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand." — Psalm 37:23-24.

To God alone be all the glory 🙏

CHARACTER IS MORE VALUABLE THAN WEALTH

In a world that often celebrates money, status, and material success, it is important to remember a timeless truth: character is more valuable than wealth.

Wealth can create opportunities, but character determines how those opportunities are used. Money can be earned, lost, and earned again, but a damaged reputation can take years to rebuild. This is why parents, guardians, teachers, and mentors must place as much emphasis on developing character as they do on pursuing success.

Children should be taught from an early age that honesty, integrity, kindness, discipline, accountability, and respect for others are among life's greatest treasures. These values cannot be purchased, inherited, or borrowed. They must be learned, practiced, and lived every day.

History has shown that success without character is often short-lived. Many individuals have achieved financial success only to lose public trust because integrity was missing from their foundation. On the other hand, people of strong character continue to earn respect and create lasting impact long after their achievements are forgotten.

True success is not measured only by what we accumulate but also by the values we uphold, the lives we influence, and the positive contributions we make to society.

As families, we should strive to raise children who understand that doing what is right is more important than doing what is easy. We should encourage them to value honesty over deception, responsibility over excuses, and integrity over temporary gain.

A society built on strong character becomes safer, more productive, and more trustworthy. Communities flourish when people choose ethical behavior, respect others, and contribute positively to the common good.

My Mission Through The Gritpreneur Movement

As the Founder of The Gritpreneur Movement and an Agent of Honest Transformation, my mission is to inspire individuals, families, and future leaders to embrace honesty, integrity, responsibility, hard work, and positive values.

I believe that lasting transformation begins with character. Through The Gritpreneur Movement, I am committed to promoting a culture where integrity is celebrated, responsible citizenship is encouraged, and future generations are equipped with the values needed to build stronger families, thriving communities, and a better world.

My desire is that the footprints I leave behind will not merely be remembered for achievements, but for positive impact, honest transformation, and a commitment to building a legacy of integrity.

Let us raise children who understand that while wealth can open doors, character determines how far they can go and how long they will remain there.

Remember: Character is the foundation upon which lasting success is built.

CHILDREN LEARN MORE FROM EXAMPLE THAN INSTRUCTION

One of the greatest truths about parenting and leadership is that people learn more from what they see than from what they are told. This is especially true for children.

A child may forget many instructions, but they rarely forget the examples they witness every day. They observe how adults speak to others, handle disagreements, manage money, respond to challenges, treat neighbors, respect commitments, and conduct themselves in public and private.

Children are constantly learning, even when no formal teaching is taking place. Every action becomes a lesson. Every habit becomes a demonstration. Every decision becomes a silent message about what is acceptable and what is not.

When children consistently see honesty, they learn honesty.

When they see responsibility, they learn responsibility.

When they see respect, they learn respect.

When they see discipline, they learn discipline.

When they see kindness, they learn compassion.

The future character of many young people is shaped not only by the advice they receive but also by the examples they encounter daily.

As parents, guardians, mentors, educators, and community leaders, we all have a responsibility to model the values we hope to see in the next generation. If we desire children who are truthful, hardworking, responsible, and respectful, we must strive to demonstrate those qualities ourselves.

A better society begins with better examples.

A stronger community begins with responsible role models.

A brighter future begins with values that are lived, not merely spoken.

THE GRITPRENEUR MOVEMENT MISSION

As an Agent of Honest Transformation, my mission through The Gritpreneur Movement is to inspire individuals, families, and communities to embrace honesty, integrity, responsibility, hard work, and positive values.

I believe that lasting transformation begins with personal character and that the values we demonstrate today will influence the leaders, innovators, parents, and citizens of tomorrow.

My vision is to contribute to the building of a society where integrity is celebrated, responsibility is encouraged, and positive examples help shape future generations.

Let us remember that our children are watching, learning, and becoming.

The example we set today may become the legacy we leave tomorrow.

THE HOME IS THE FIRST SCHOOL

Every great society
begins with a strong foundation, and that foundation is the home. Before a child enters a classroom, meets a teacher, or interacts with the wider world, the home has already started shaping that child's character, values, attitudes, and understanding of life.

Parents and guardians are more than providers of food, clothing, and shelter. They are the first teachers, mentors, role models, and guides that children encounter. Every conversation, decision, and action within the home contributes to the lessons children carry into adulthood.

Children often learn more from what they observe than from what they are told. When they witness honesty, respect, kindness, responsibility, self-discipline, and compassion being practiced consistently, they are more likely to develop those same qualities. Likewise, the values ignored at home can create challenges that may later affect families, communities, and society as a whole.

A peaceful and prosperous society cannot be built overnight. It is built one family at a time, one child at a time, and one value at a time. If we desire a future marked by integrity, responsible leadership, and positive social change, we must invest in raising children who understand the importance of character, accountability, hard work, and respect for others.

The future leaders of our communities, businesses, institutions, and nations are sitting in our homes today. The values we teach them now will influence the decisions they make tomorrow. Every parent, guardian, mentor, and responsible adult has an opportunity to contribute to a better future by helping young people develop strong moral principles and positive life habits.

Through The Gritpreneur Movement, I remain committed to promoting honesty, responsibility, resilience, and positive transformation. As someone who has experienced life's challenges firsthand, I believe that lasting success is not built merely on wealth or status but on integrity, character, and consistent effort.

My vision is to inspire individuals, families, and communities around the world to embrace values that strengthen society and create opportunities for future generations. My desire is that long after I am gone, the impact of this mission will continue through the lives that have been positively influenced.

Let us remember: when we build strong homes, we build strong communities. When we raise responsible children, we help create a better future for everyone.

What value do you believe every child should learn at home first? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Please share this message to encourage families and inspire positive change.

As a Gritpreneur, I have learned that true success is not measured by how fast you become rich, but by how honestly you earn your success.

I come from a background where challenges and limitations could have pushed me toward shortcuts, but I made a personal decision to choose integrity over dishonesty. Nothing gives me greater peace of mind than knowing that my hands are clean and my conscience is clear before God and humanity.

There may be faster ways to make money, but I believe that lasting success is built on honesty, hard work, consistency, and good character. Wealth without integrity is temporary, but a life of integrity leaves a legacy that inspires others.

My mission through The Gritpreneur Movement is simple: to encourage people around the world to pursue success in a godly way, without compromising their values. No amount of money is worth losing your peace, your reputation, or your character.

Stay honest. Stay consistent. Trust God. Your time will come.

LIFE AND HUMANITY

Life is a journey that gives each of us opportunities to learn, grow, contribute, and make a positive difference. While our backgrounds, experiences, and challenges may be different, our shared humanity reminds us that every person deserves dignity, respect, and kindness.

The true measure of success is not only what we achieve for ourselves but also how we treat others along the way. A simple act of compassion, encouragement, or understanding can have a lasting impact on someone's life.

Let us choose integrity over shortcuts, understanding over division, and service over selfishness. When we uplift one another, we help build stronger families, communities, and a better future for generations to come.

Leave every person and every place better than you found them.

HOW THE GRITPRENEUR MOVEMENT WAS BORN

Many people have asked me, "How did the Gritpreneur Movement start?"

The answer is simple: it was born from my own life journey.

I grew up facing challenges, limitations, and difficult circumstances. Like many others, I had dreams but often lacked resources and opportunities. Through those experiences, I learned that success is not determined by where you come from but by your willingness to keep moving forward with honesty, hard work, resilience, and consistency.

As I observed people around me, I noticed that many talented individuals were giving up on their dreams because of setbacks, discouragement, and a lack of positive guidance. I felt a strong desire to create a platform that would inspire people to believe in themselves, embrace responsibility, and keep pushing forward despite life's challenges.

That vision gave birth to The Gritpreneur Movement.

A Gritpreneur is someone who combines grit with purpose—someone who refuses to surrender to obstacles, chooses integrity over shortcuts, and remains committed to building a meaningful life and a lasting legacy.

Today, the Gritpreneur Movement exists to inspire people across the world to pursue success through hard work, resilience, consistency, and positive impact.

Your background does not define your future. Your determination does.

Keep moving. Keep growing. Keep building.
