*TEXT: JOHN 6:25-29*

25. _When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”_
26. _Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill._
27. _Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”_
28. _Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”_
29. _Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”_

*TOPIC: LIVING WITH ETERNITY IN VIEW*

Jesus came to restore man to his lost glory. This can only happen when one believes in him as Lord and Saviour. In our text, people sought Jesus for physical and material benefits. But he cautions them not to work for food that perishes but to work for eternal food that lasts. They must focus on the things that truly matter and are not transient. Those who accept Jesus as their Lord must not place their attention on perishables like food, money and position, but on what endures to eternal life. It is painful to see some Christians using religion to gain prestige, comfort, or even political votes while paying little or no attention to kingdom business. What are your priorities? Do not lose sight of eternity and focus on material gains, which are temporal. Work for things of eternal value!

*REFLECTION:* _Labour for what lasts!_

*PRAYER:* _Jesus, help me to remain focused on things of eternal value. Amen._

*TEXT: ROMANS 12:19-21*

19. _Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord._
20. _On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”_
21. _Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good._

*TOPIC: AVOID EVIL*

The way to eternity does not permit evil. The recipient of God's grace has been translated from a kingdom where evil is prevalent. Now, he must guard against evil as he journeys to heaven. Believers face hostility and persecution daily on account of their faith in Christ. In our text, Paul counsels Christians not to seek vengeance or allow evil to overcome them; instead, they are to overcome evil with good. They can achieve this by treating their enemies with kindness. Has someone mistreated you so that you think revenge is ideal? Remember, Jesus did not mete out evil on those who crucified him; rather, he prayed for them. Besides, he does not condemn you for your sin but saves and ushers you into his kingdom. Avoiding evil is not a sign of weakness. Imitate Jesus by doing good.

*REFLECTION:* _Paying evil with evil hurts; avoid it._

*PRAYER:* _Lord, help me to respond with kind actions to those who hurt me. Amen._

*TEXT: ROMANS 3:27-30*

27. _Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith._
28. _For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law._
29. _Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too,_
30. _since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith._

*TOPIC: SHUN LEGALISM*

Eternal life is not earned by observing the law. It is only by faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross that He satisfied God's demand for salvation. No human effort, no matter how lofty, can be added to what Jesus has accomplished. There is no work that man can do for God that qualifies him to enter heaven. It is disheartening to see people boast about their involvement in church activities and their adherence to rules and regulations, as if that is what defines an honest Christian. Have you been relying on performances of specific duties, thinking they will make you acceptable to God? Be reminded that your good deeds will not make you right with God. Turn to Jesus and have faith in Him. He is the only way to eternal life.

*REFLECTION:* _Legalism cannot earn you eternal life._

*PRAYER:* _Lord Jesus, help me to shun legalism. Amen._

*TEXT: ROMANS 12:1-2*

1. _Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship._
2. _Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will._

*TOPIC: TOTAL SURRENDER*

God has poured out His grace, undeserved love, mercy, and forgiveness to us through Christ. This demands a response far beyond words. We must surrender ourselves fully to Him by placing our entire lives - thoughts, desires, ambitions, and bodies - on the alter as living sacrifices. This is not a one-time event, but a daily choice to yield to God's will over our own. This kind of surrendering is not motivated by fear or duty, but by gratitude because grace has found us, transformed and enabled us to eschew the world's pattern (self-centeredness, pride, and conformity). In a world that pushes self-will; divine grace calls you to do God's will. How do you live your daily life as a believer? You are invited into a transformation, a renewal of mind that shapes how you live, think, and love. Cherish it!

*REFLECTION:* _Total surrender is not weakness, it is worship._

*PRAYER:* _Father, I offer my life to you today as a living sacrifice. Amen._

*TEXT: ROMANS 10:13-15*

13. _for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”_
14. _How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?_
15. _And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”_

*TOPIC: ENGAGING IN MISSIONS*

Anyone who has tasted the Lord's goodness will not hesitate to reach out to others with the gospel of Christ. He takes the command of Jesus to "Go" seriously. In our text, Paul advocates for the spread of the gospel. People will call on Jesus to save them only if they believe he can do so. Believing in Christ comes with knowledge about him. One hears about Christ only when someone proclaims the saving message. The message about Christ will not be proclaimed unless God sends someone to do so. Every believer is obliged to preach the gospel. Have you ever talked to your relatives and friends who are wallowing in sin about Jesus? Please do not assume they will hear the good news that liberates elsewhere. Be bold and engage in missions to reach individuals, groups, or nations that are in dire need of salvation.

*REFLECTION:* _Share the gospel with someone today_

*PRAYER:* _Father, help me to always tell of your goodness to others. Amen._

*WEDNESDAY 13TH MAY, 2026*

*TEXT: EPHESIANS 4:22-25*

22. _You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;_
23. _to be made new in the attitude of your minds;_
24. _and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness._
25. _Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body._

*TOPIC: TRUTHFULNESS*

The life of a born-again child of God shows. He seldom does the things he used to do. He conducts himself differently. His desires and attitudes of believers to put off falsehood and speak the truth have changed for the better. Paul charges believers to put off falsehood and speak the truth to one another. Lying to each other disrupts the unity of the body of Christ. It tears down relationships, destroys trust, and creates conflict within the body of Christ. The body of Christ can only function properly when we tell the truth no matter the situation. Thence shall we know where it hurts-to soothe, broken-to mend, and sick-to heal. Remember, lying is the language of Satan, so avoid it in the body of Christ. Always be truthful in your dealings.

*REFLECTION:* _Graciously speak the truth always!_

*PRAYER:* _Father, help me to be truthful always, in Jesus' name. Amen._

*TEXT: ROMANS 14:1-3; 15:7*

_*ROMANS 14:1-3*_

1. _Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters._
2. _One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables._
3. _The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them._

_*ROMANS 15:7*_

7. _Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God._

*TOPIC: ACCEPTING OTHERS*

People's convictions differ in the household of God. Paul addresses the issue of divergent convictions among believers, particularly concerning dietary practices and religious observances. He urges the church to welcome those who are 'weak in faith,' likely those with more scruples about such matters, without passing judgement or engaging in arguments over disputable issues. Paul emphasises that God accepts both those who eat and those who abstain. Therefore, mutual respect and love should prevail over judgement and division. None amongst us is without any weakness. We must play complementary roles in the lives of others to promote unity in diversity. Are you still disgusted by others? Learn to accept them.

*REFLECTION:* _Accept others just as God in Christ accepted you._

*PRAYER:* _Lord, help me to accept those who are different from me, in Jesus'. Amen._

46. _If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?_
47. _And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?_
48. _Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect._

*TOPIC: LOVING OTHERS*

In this text, Jesus teaches that believers should love others the way He loves them. He urges the believers to love everybody and extend courtesy to the different and the difficult. It is in doing so that we stand out. While other religions teach their adherents to love and bless only their kind, Jesus teaches believers to love everyone, even their enemies. You love others when you identify with them in their plight, by lending a helping hand, be it in kind or cash. You can visit, mourn, counsel, clothe, feed, and rejoice with them. You also demonstrate love when you forgive and accept others rather than slandering and spreading bad reports about them. Loving others pleases God, brings us joy, and fosters bonds between people, making them feel a sense of belonging and spurring them to function more effectively.

*REFLECTION:* _Show love to someone today._

*PRAYER:* _Lord, help me to love others regardless, in Jesus' name. Amen._

15. _“If you love me, keep my commands._

_*1 JOHN 5:3*_

3. _In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,_

*TOPIC: LOVING GOD*

God showed his love to humans by sending His One and only Son to die for their salvation. Our texts state that our love for God is demonstrated in our obedience to His commands. Just as children are expected to obey their earthly parents, so believers must obey their heavenly Father. Obeying God's commands not only pleases Him but also shows us the way to love others. Obeying Him in all things may not be easy, especially when it comes to loving our enemies. But the power of God's love and the Holy Spirit who lives in us will enable us. The understanding and following God's commands bring great joy and freedom to the believers. Is your love for God and others waning? Just turn to Jesus in faith, and He will grant you the needed grace at every step. Imitate Him who loved you unconditionally.

*REFLECTION:* _God's commands are not burdensome._

*PRAYER:* _Father in heaven, help me to love you more and more each day. Amen._

*TEXT: MATTHEW 5:23-24*

23. _“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you,_
24. _leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift._

*TOPIC: RECONCILIATION*

Reconciliation means restoring a broken relationship between the aggrieved and the offender. Since we have been reconciled with God through Christ, we ought to cherish reconciliation with people who have been at odds with us. According to this text, one cannot have a deep and meaningful worship or relationship with God without reconciling with his offenders. No one can worship God or receive His forgiveness when he is not in good standing with his brother. Do you keep malice and are bitter with members of your family, church or workplace? If so, know that God will not accept your worship. Forgive your offender and promptly seek reconciliation as a response to God's grace today. Doing so makes you an effective follower of Christ.

*REFLECTION:* _Refusing to reconcile with others mars your Christian witness._

*PRAYER:* _Father, help me to reconcile with my offenders quickly. Amen._

*TEXT: EPHESIANS 4:1-3*

1. _As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received._
2. _Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love._
3. _Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace._

*TOPIC: FORBEARANCE*

Forbearance means 'put up with', holding back, restraining, or controlling oneself when provoked or offended (see Mt. 17:17). Paul challenges Christians to walk worthy of their calling. They must imbibe the character of patience and bear with one another, overlooking their faults and even their thoughtless acts. A believer cannot forbear from a posture of pride or a 'holier than thou' attitude. Forbearance becomes necessary when we recognise that God continually overlooks our weaknesses, faults, and failures. Moreover, we often fail to be faithful and thoughtful in our relationships with others, and also towards God. For example, overindulgence in mundane things like chess, playing _dara_, watching football, and social media often affects our intimacy with God. Yet God bears with us. So, why not bear with others?

*REFLECTION:* _Learn to bear with others._

*PRAYER:* _Father, help me to bear with others for Christ's sake. Amen._
