THE PROBLEM IS NOT THAT WE ARE UNEDUCATED.

It is that we have been trained to confuse education with transformation.

For decades, many education systems have focused on what students can remember, reproduce, and write in an examination hall.

The emphasis has been on:

• Examinations and certificates
• Memorisation and content
• Theory without application
• Subjects trapped in knowledge silos

But the world is asking a different question:

What can you create with what you know?

As Michael Ogbaa powerfully stated:

«“Many systems remain focused on what students know instead of what they can create.”»

And this is where the real conversation about education must begin.

Because knowledge, by itself, is no longer enough.

Today, success requires more than knowing. It requires the ability to transform knowledge into value.

To solve problems.
To think critically.
To innovate.
To create.
To build.
To apply.

The ability to create value from knowledge has become the new currency.

Education is good. No doubt.

But education becomes truly powerful when it moves beyond the classroom, beyond the examination hall, and beyond the certificate.

The real question is not simply:

“What did you study?”

The more important question is:

“What are you doing with what you learned?”

Africa does not only need more graduates.

Africa needs problem-solvers.
Innovators.
Creators.
Entrepreneurs.
Critical thinkers.
People who can look at a challenge and ask:

“What can I create to solve this?”

The future will not belong solely to those who know the most.

It will belong to those who can transform what they know into something that creates value.

This is the kind of conversation we must continue.

This is the kind of education Africa must begin to rethink.

Because education should not only prepare people to pass examinations. It should prepare them to create the future.

— Michael Ogbaa

What do you think?

Is our education system preparing people to create value—or merely to collect certificates?
