Sunset by the River
18 June 2025
I was sitting quietly on a bench by the Ljubljanica River, letting the breeze and golden evening light wrap around me. The trees whispered above, and the world felt slow—in a good way. I wasn’t expecting anything special. But then, life surprised me.
Two young women arrived, full of light and laughter, and took a seat on the same bench. Strangers, yet their presence felt familiar—like a gentle reminder that joy still lives in the everyday.
They began chatting, giggling, laughing with the kind of ease that comes only when you feel safe and seen. One held a pizza in her hands, and they passed it between them, joking, smiling, simply being. It wasn’t just friendship—it was a celebration of being alive.
I watched, quietly and gratefully, as they filled the space with a kind of joy that felt rare and precious. Their laughter danced with the wind, and for a moment, the world was exactly as it should be.
No filters, no performances. Just connection, lightness, and an unspoken harmony between strangers sharing a bench.
In them, I saw a reflection of the future I wish to see. A future where joy is abundant, kindness is effortless, and strangers can sit side by side and feel at peace in each other's presence.
That evening, in the heart of Ljubljana, I didn’t just witness beauty—I felt it. And it reminded me: sometimes the most profound moments arrive quietly, when you’re simply sitting on a bench, open to life.
