【Courtesy Call from the Pink Hibiscus Club】
On April 8, Mr. Shinya Machida, Consul General of Japan in Penang, received a courtesy call from representatives of the Pink Hibiscus Club, led by Ms. Emi Yamazaki.
They exchanged views on this year’s activity plans, including the Festival Inspirasi Jepun to be held at the Esplanade on June 27-28 (with the Penang Yosakoi Parade scheduled for June 27), as well as on cultural exchanges between Japan and Penang.

Toray β€” where innovation meets tradition. With its newest technology, Toray Silk Mirai, and visionary leadership from SEO Alpha, Toray has reimagined the kimono using a fabric that is both breathable and luxurious β€” specially crafted for Malaysia’s tropical climate.

Penang Kimono Centre also graced the showcase with two exquisite pieces, including the dazzling furisode worn by our very own Miss Yosakoi Penang 2025. ✨

A beautiful harmony of modern technology and timeless craftsmanship, as seen at the Amazing Japan Expo in Gurney Plaza.

Obi Mai β€” a graceful reinterpretation of tradition, where the obi, usually tied at the back, is brought to the front and celebrated through elegant movement. ✨

Performed by the senseis of Kino Wasou Academy, this captivating dance highlights both creativity and cultural depth, transforming the way we view one of the most iconic elements of kimono dressing.

A beautiful expression of innovation within tradition at the Amazing Japan Expo, Gurney Plaza. 🌸
