1. Site Manager
Starting date: 1/3/2018 or ASAP
Salary range: RM8000 - RM10000

Basic requirements:
Education - Minimum Degree Holder
Experience - At least 5 years working experience
Skills - Basic computer skills, specializing in Engineering – Civil/Construction/Structural
Training - CAD Software, Project Management, Project Planning

Responsibilities/Job Scope:
• Good understanding in carrying out supervision and inspection of site works.
• Good communication &analytical skills.
• Self motivation, discipline and able to work independently.
• To assist the Project Manager to plan, monitor and control daily activities at project site.
• To attend weekly and coordination meeting.
• To check and monitor the construction and sub-contractor works.
• Project planning and site costing, control material wastages and delivery of material to site.
• Assist in documentation, report, data preparation and drawing interpretation.
• Assist in resolving all technical and site issues.
• Assist on overall construction site planning, construction activities, operation and completion the work on time.

Education - Min Bachelor Degree in Quantity Surveyor
Experience - At least 5 years working experience
Skills - Basic computer skills, can perform all roles as Quantity Surveyor
Training - Microsoft Project, Autocad

Responsibilities/Job Scope:
• Tender submission including taking off, calling quotation and pricing.
• Managing input from fellow project team members.
• Able to prepare estimation on various method.
• Attend tender interview and assist the management in tender negotiation.
• To prepare sub-contract of various trades.
• To prepare technical and commercial evaluation reports for the subcontract.
• Responsible for all procurement progress, contract matters, assigned packages to the MD.
• Possess high integrity, strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, possess strong planning, organizational & leadership skills.
• Responsible for contributing to the continuous improvement of pre-award documentation and processes.

Ground-Breaking Ceremony - Politeknik Bagan Datuk

26th November 2017

BAGAN DATUK: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi wants the Politeknik Bagan Datuk contractor to complete the project in 38 months, seven months earlier than schedule.

“The 45 months period to complete building the polytechnic is too long for Bagan Datuk residents," he told reporters at the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of Politeknik Bagan Datuk, here today.

Zahid, who is also the member of parliament for Bagan Datuk, said Politeknik Bagan Datuk would not become a reality without the support and prayers from the local residents.

Also present were Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, Polytechnic Education Department director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Ismail Abd Aziz and Perak State Secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan.

The project estimated to cost RM220 million would be built on a 16ha site in front of Sekolah Menengah Sains Bagan Datuk (SABDA), can accommodate a total of 1,200 students.

The focus of Politeknik Bagan Datuk is maritime industry. It offers two Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) programmes namely Diploma in Ship Building and Diploma in Marine Engineering.

Intake for the first cohort for Diploma in Ship Building was conducted on June 5 and classes were held at Politeknik Bagan Datuk’s temporary campus at Medan Niaga Lagenda in Hutan Melintang. - BERNAMA

The construction of Politeknik Bagan Datuk (PBD) is viewed to positioned Bagan Datuk as the maritime hub by 2021. The project estimated to cost RM220 million would be built on a 16ha site in front of Sekolah Menengah Sains Bagan Datuk (SABDA), and can accommodate a total of 1,200 students.

Educational Visit to Proven Holding Sdn Bhd's Industrialised Building System (IBS) Factory

On Tuesday, 10th of October 2017 a group of students from the Department of Civil Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP) came for an educational visit to Proven Holding’s IBS factory located in Kundang, Selangor. The purpose of the trip was to provide real-world exposure to students on the IBS as part of the Industrialised Building Construction Technology course offered by the Bachelors of Civil Engineering Technology (Construction).

Students are briefed by Proven’s Technical Director, Tn Hj Sufian Hashim on the IBS concept and the IBS products manufactured by Proven. They were given the opportunity to tour the factory and observe the different steps in producing P-slabs, beginning from the prestressing of cables and casting of P-slabs. Later on the students got to see the brick and blocks production area as well. The trip is considered a huge success as all 70 students had shown greater interest on IBS in general, and the application of IBS in the construction industry.

Technical Visit to Proven Holding Sdn Bhd's Industrialised Building System (IBS) Factory

The Ministry of Urban Well-being, Housing and Local Government (UHLG) staff and representatives from UIS Development Sdn Bhd came for a technical visit at Proven Holding’s IBS Factory in Kundang, Selangor on the 10th of October 2017. The purpose of the visit is to get a closer look at the factory and how the P-slabs are manufactured and tested, as well as getting further information on the technical aspect of the P-slabs.

The visit begins with a technical presentation given by Proven Technical Director, Tn Hj. Sufian Hashim followed by Mr. Tan, the Civil and Structural Consultant for the PPR Kamunting Project in Taiping, Perak. Tn Hj. Sufian explained the P-slabs application on the PPR project, and Mr. Tan focused on the structural information for the P-slabs. Later on, the group of people was brought around for factory tour starting from the P-slabs casting area, followed by the prestressed cable area and the quality control (QC) area. The adjacent area of the factory housed the mixing area and production area for the interlocking bricks and blocks. Towards the end of the visit, all UHLG staff and UIS representatives were satisfied with the factory’s condition and impressed with the factory’s capacity on producing the P-slabs.

MOHE takes time off to see the CEO@Faculty Programme in action while visiting Jakarta on 2nd October 2017

YB Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh was in Jakarta recently for a working trip to meet his counterpart in Indonesia and held a meeting with Malaysia students studying in Jakarta. Despite his heavy schedule, the Minister has taken some time off to visit one of the CEO@ Faculty program members in action. The CEO@Faculty Programme (CFP) is a cutting-edged initiative set in 2015 aims to effectively engaged collaboration between the public universities in Malaysia and the industry. One of the aims of CFP is to bridge the public universities and the industry in the area of entrepreneurship where the latter are tasked to share their experiences with students and professors in the public universities with objectives to create more entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs in the country.

During the educational tour visit, the MOHE and his delegation were briefed by the Chairman of Malaysian Proven Group of Companies (PGC), Dato’ Yusof Jusoh on the Titanium Square, an integrated mixed development project comprising of thousands units of apartments, hotel and a shopping mall. The delegates not only benefitted a lot from learning how this mixed development project was done, innovated and managed, but most importantly they were exposed to how to do and succeed in doing a cross border businesses.

To date, PGC is the only Malaysian company who is involved in construction business in Jakarta. Their first project was 2 years ago, building the 1 million square feet of Shopping Mall and apartments in Tangerang.

The MOHE hopes that more entrepreneurs will follow Yusof’s footsteps in exploring and doing business in Jakarta and Indonesia as a whole as there is indeed a great potential to do business in the country.

Current Project: Titanium Square and Aston Condotel, Jakarta, Indonesia

The Titanium Square project is a mixed development comprise of 952 units of apartment and condotel integrated with two levels of commercial centre. The development consist of three blocks high rise buildings is located at Pasar Rebo Jalan Raya Bogor, East Jakarta. This area is surrounded by 100 factories with a population of 4 million.

The Condotel will be operated by PT ASTON INTERNATIONAL with Four Stars Facilities (such as Thematic Swimming Pool, Restaurant and Coffee House, and Meeting and Conference Rooms).
