Vivace Vilnius International Summer Music Festival and Masterclasses "Vivace Vilnius” Festival offers intensive summer master classes for young musicians and presents concerts performed by the faculty and guest artists.

The Vivace Vilnius International Music Festival has presented the best in solo and chamber music performance before large audiences in Vilnius, Lithuania since it was established in 2012 by Artistic Director, Egle Jarkova. The Festival’s distinguished faculty and guest artists, who represent 20 countries, performed 80 admission concerts. In addition to public performances in historic cultural venu

es, the Festival welcomes promising students from music, high school, conservatory and music academy to receive instruction and career guidance from internationally renowned musicians. These motivated students, who plan to pursue a professional music career, receive masterclasses that stimulate creative thinking and enhance the learning process, in addition to concerts to sharpen their performance skills. Over the last four years, Vivace Vilnius has attracted 220 international students. Since the beginning of the Festival, public support has provided full scholarships and has made the performances accessible to everyone - there is no charge to the public. Since 2014, Dr. Lisa Wong - a pediatrician who plays violin and viola has conducted a music class and community workshop on music and medicine. The Vivace Vilnius Festival’s fiscal sponsor is the Kimball High School/Boston Scholarship Fund, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides need-based undergraduate scholarships and mentoring support to Boston residents.

14th Vivace Vilnius ISMF 2026 - Student Spotlight - violinist Pijus Česaitis
Pijus Česaitis is a Lithuanian violinist currently studying with Friedemann Eichhorn at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar. He previously studied at the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Arts under Professor Ingrida Armonaitė. A prizewinner of several international competitions, his distinctions include the Grand Prix at the XI International Balys Dvarionas Competition (2021) and awards at the Mladi Virtuozi and Kloster Schöntal International Violin Competitions. Recent highlights include his debut at the Thomas Mann Festival in 2024, serving as concertmaster in an academy orchestra project under Vladimir Jurowski, and receiving scholarships from the Yehudi Menuhin “Live Music Now” Foundation and the Deutschlandstipendium, awarded by the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar in September 2025. Since 2026, Pijus has been a member of the internationally acclaimed LGT Young Soloists under the mentorship of Alexander Gilman. Bringing together exceptional young soloists from around the world, the ensemble is regarded as one of the most prestigious and internationally active youth classical music ensembles, performing regularly at leading venues and festivals worldwide.

Inga Vyšniauskaitė- Lithuanian pianist, music educator, and accomplished collaborative artist. She has won awards at numerous national and international piano competitions in countries including Lithuania, Germany, France, Italy, Denmark, and Ukraine, and won Diploma the prestigious M. K. Čiurlionis International Piano Competition in 2007.

For the past 12 years, Vyšniauskaitė has been an important part of the Vivace Vilnius International Summer Music Festival, serving both as a collaborative pianist and performer. Known for her artistry, professionalism, and warm personality, she is greatly appreciated by the festival community, faculty, and students alike. Her long-standing contribution has helped make her a beloved figure within the festival, and she is set to return once again for the 2026 edition.

Alongside her performing career, Vyšniauskaitė is a dedicated teacher. She leads the piano department for grades 1–5 at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts and also teaches at the Vilnius Naujoji Vilnia Music School. Many of her students have become prize winners in national and international competitions.

Since 2023, she has served as vice president of the Lithuanian branch of the European Piano Teachers Association. Through her work as both a performer and educator, she has become a respected figure in Lithuania’s classical music community, known for her musical excellence and commitment to developing young talent.

Vivace Vilnius International Summer Festival is delighted to welcome back Romanian pianist Anastasia-Maria Barbu as a student participant in the 2026 masterclasses in Vilnius.

Currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with Professor Petras Geniušas, Anastasia-Maria previously studied at the Purcell School in London with Professor Gabriele Baldocci. She has performed across the UK and Europe and has earned recognition in numerous international competitions, including 1st Prize at the Roma International Piano Competition, finalist award at the Cambridge International Piano Festival Competition 2026, and a place in the grand final of BBC Radio Scotland Young Classical Musician of the Year 2026, where she will perform with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
Her recent appearances include recitals at Perth Concert Hall, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Sommerakademie Cervo in Italy, and Vivace Vilnius International Summer Festival.

We are excited to welcome Anastasia-Maria back to Vivace Vilnius following her participation in the 2024 and 2025 festival editions.

Vivace Vilnius ISMF is excited to invite a Bulgarian pianist Alexander Traykov to 2026 master classes to study with and Mūza Rubackytė.
Alexander Traykov is currently at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, having previously studied at the Purcell School. He has participated in leading international festivals and academies including the Vivace Vilnius Summer Music Festival, Forum Musikae, Rye International Piano Festival, Lavethan Easter Chamber Music School, and the Appenzell Summer Piano Intensive.
Alexander has worked in masterclasses with distinguished pianists and pedagogues including Lukas Geniušas, Edna Golandsky, Muza Rubackytė, Leonel Morales, Jonathan Mamora, Aaron Shorr, Fali Pavri, and Ian Fountain.
His achievements include First Prize at the Golden Classical Music Awards, First Prize at Grand Prize Virtuoso, the Dunbar-Gerber Prize, Second Prize at the Flame Concours, and selection as a semi-finalist in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Musician of the Year 2025. He has also received scholarships from the Eileen Rowe Musical Trust and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

The 14th Vivace Vilnius International Summer Music Festival is thrilled to announce that internationally acclaimed violinist Irina Muresanu will join our distinguished faculty for the 2026 festival season! 🎻

Students from around the world will have the extraordinary opportunity to work closely with Professor Muresanu through inspiring violin master classes, artistic mentorship, and unforgettable musical experiences in Vilnius.
Romanian-born violinist Irina Muresanu is a cultural architect whose work spans five continents, bridging performance, scholarship, and technology. Her acclaimed program Four Strings Around the World — featuring commissioned works from Chickasaw, Indian, Nigerian, Iranian, and Jamaican composers alongside Bach and Paganini — has been called “illuminating” by the Boston Globe and was the subject of a groundbreaking VR collaboration with the University of Maryland.

In June 2027, she will give the world premiere of Hattak Hiloha by Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate — the first violin concerto by an American Indian composer.

A laureate of the Queen Elisabeth and Montreal International competitions, Fulbright Scholar, and NSF-funded researcher in AI and music education, Muresanu is Professor at the University of Maryland with affiliations at UMIACS and UMD’s AI Institute. She plays an 1849 Giuseppe Rocca violin and a Dominique Peccatte bow.

Vivace Vilnius ISMF master classes Student Spotlight!

We are excited to announce yet another young Lithuanian violinist Feodora Drakšė accepted to our program. Feodora will take master classes and perform at a students concert.

Feodora Drakšė began studying violin at the age of five and started her musical education at the Rudamina School of Art in the first grade. Since the seventh grade, she has continued her studies at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art in the violin class of Ugnė Jauniškytė. Alongside her studies, she actively participates in various competitions, including the International V. Radovičius Competition for Young String Players and the National Balys Dvarionas Competition, as well as artistic projects and masterclasses.

Vivace Vilnius International Summer Music Festival! 🎹✨ STUDENT SPOTLIGHT!

Edward Scully is an Irish pianist of Irish and Russian heritage who began studying piano in Burgas, Bulgaria, with Isidora Silvestrova and Professor Irina Ivanova. He has participated in numerous competitions, concerts, and masterclasses with distinguished musicians including Elisabeth Leonskaja, Miceal O’Rourke, Vadim Rudenko, and Nikolay Lugansky.
In 2020, he performed Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Plovdiv Symphony Orchestra under conductor Konstantin Dobroykov. Edward studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, earning a Bachelor of Music (Performance) in 2024 under Sinae Lee and Professor Aaron Shorr. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Piano Performance at RCS with Sinae Lee and Saša Gerželj, supported by a partial scholarship.
Edward has performed in festivals and showcases throughout his studies and was a semi-finalist in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Classical Musician 2025. He also auditioned for the Irish Heritage Music Bursary at Wigmore Hall, an experience that further deepened his passion for performance.

Edward will join the festival and our master classes led by distinguished professors Petras Geniušas and Mūza Rubackytė, alongside outstanding young musicians from around the world. We look forward to an inspiring week of music, learning, and artistic collaboration in Vilnius.

Vivace Vilnius ISMF Student Spotlight !!!
Born in the city of Šiauliai, Bernadeta Januškaitė discovered the voice of the violin at the age of six, beginning a musical journey marked by dedication, artistry, and remarkable achievement. She first studied at the Šiauliai Saulius Sondeckis Art Gymnasium, and since 2023 has continued her studies at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts, where she is currently a fifth-grade student in the violin class of Professor Rusnė Mataitytė.
This year, among many talented young musicians from around the world, Bernadeta was specially selected to participate in the 14th Vivace Vilnius International Summer Music Festival and Master Classes in 2026, where she will study under the guidance of renowned violinist and professor Boris Brovtsyn — an important recognition of her exceptional promise and musical maturity.
Bernadeta is also a scholarship recipient of the M. Rostropovich Charity and Support Foundation “Help for Lithuanian Children”. As a young soloist, she has already appeared on stage with the Camerata Solaris Šiauliai Symphony Orchestra, the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, and the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts Students’ Symphony Orchestra, enchanting audiences with her sensitivity, elegance, and expressive sound.
Her growing list of achievements includes victories at the International Kocian Violin Competition, the Viktoras Radovičius Young String Competition, the Saulius Sondeckis Young String and Pianist Competition, the National Balys Dvarionas Pianist and String Competition, the Con Moto Young String Competition, and first prize at the Jonas Urba String Competition, as well as third prize at the Augustus Dombrovskis Competition.
Deeply devoted to artistic growth, Bernadeta continually refines her craft through master classes and open lessons with distinguished musicians. With each performance, she brings not only technical brilliance, but also a rare musical sincerity that promises a luminous future on the international stage.

Lithuanian pianist Mykolas Žilinskas has been accepted to the Vivace Vilnius International Summer Music Festival, taking place August 2–7, 2026, where he will participate in masterclasses led by renowned pianists Prof. Mūza Rubackytė and Prof. Petras Geniušas.

Mykolas is a laureate of numerous international piano competitions. His recent achievements include 2nd Prize at the II International Johann Sebastian Bach Young Pianists Competition; 1st Prize at the IX International Young Pianists Piano Music Competition dedicated to the memory of Leonas Povilaitis, where he also received a special award for the best interpretation of a work by L. Povilaitis; 2nd Prize at the IX International Polish Piano Music Competition dedicated to F. Chopin; and 1st Prize at the VII Vilnius International Youth Music Competition PREMIO SCARLATTI.
In 2025, he was awarded 1st Prize at the Czech music competition “Czech Paraphrases,” together with a nomination for the best performance of a Czech composer’s work, and later received 1st Prize at the Lisztofonia Competition, where the main award included a professional recording and recital opportunity.

On April 21, 2026, Mykolas gave a solo recital at the Vilnius Picture Gallery. He actively performs throughout Lithuania and has appeared at venues including the Lithuanian National Museum of Art, Paliesius Manor, St. Catherine’s Church, the Musicians’ Union Hall, the Šiauliai Saulė Concert Hall, and the Embassy of the Czech Republic. He has also performed with the orchestra of the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts.
Alongside his concert activity, Mykolas continues to refine his artistry in masterclasses with distinguished musicians including Gabrielius Alekna, Petras Geniušas, Guoda Gedvilaitė Göhle, Rudolfs Vanks, Dmitry Mayboroda, and Mūza Rubackyte. His current teacher at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts, teacher Eglė Jurkevičiūtė Navickienė..
