More photos from our new set of monthly cleanup events in villages along the Tonle Sap Lake as part of our Water Falling & Rising Festivals which leads into our Inland Ocean Festival in early June in Kampong Khleang and Kampong Phluk.

It was great to have the coordinated participation of 30 students from Nordhordland Folkehogskole in Norway at our 500 person cleanup, celebrating the Tonle Sap Lake - Cambodia's "Inland Ocean."

If your school or tour group is visiting Siem Reap or the Tonle Sap, let us know if you'd like to get involved, even if just for half a day.

It's great to see the participation of 30 students from Nordhordland Folkehogskole in Norway at our 500 person cleanup of Kampong Khleang last week on the Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia. The lake is Cambodia's "Inland Ocean", and our Water Falling & Rising Festivals and Inland Ocean Festivals have helped motivate, engage and inspire all types of stakeholders in these amazing yet fragile, lakeside communities. This is part of our monthly Water Falling Cleanup activities with some of the lakeside villages, and there is great momentum building from all of them to be engaged.

Also, if your school or tour group is visiting Siem Reap or the Tonle Sap, let us know if you'd like to get involved, even if just for half a day NGO2 BambooShoot Foundation.

It’s all about the environment, thanks to The Brew on RTHK Radio 3 - Hong Kong. Join us next week at 12:30pm Hong Kong time for a live broadcast from Tonle Sap Lake and the village of Kampong Phluk. This is along the shores of Cambodia’s Inland Ocean, and they’ve just created a new Women’s Paddling Committee to help keeping their waters clean, from within the floating house community. All part of our 7th Annual Water Falling Festival next weekend.

We’ve just kicked off two major activities marking the start of the new tourist season, the new school year, and our Water Falling Festival Season.

Two weeks ago at the Kampong Phluk village along the Tonle Sap Lake, we held our first event under the theme “One Tourist, One Palm Tree”, with over 1,000 participants planting 3,000 palm trees and conducting a plastic cleanup.

Two days later, we hosted an event at Mechrey Floating Village to celebrate the school's opening day, and to promote plastic awareness, engaging nearly 500 participants, including students, teachers, and villagers.

Both activities served as preludes to our main Annual Water Falling Festival, scheduled for late November and December. Thanks again to CATA for their support, and the Department of Environment for donating the seedling trees.

Our 7th Annual Water Falling Festival is scheduled for November 29–30, 2025, in conjunction with the celebration of the National Sanitation Day, with Kampong Khleang as our main focal village for this event, along with a school education tour/workshop we will be giving at the Siem Reap Aquarium on Friday the 28th.

🌊✨ Highlights from the 3rd Inland Ocean Festival – June 14–15, 2025 ✨🌊

Over 18,000 visitors joined us in Kampong Phluk to celebrate Cambodia’s “Inland Ocean” – the Tonle Sap Lake. The festival combined tradition and conservation, with a grand parade of 1,000+ people and magical puppet lanterns created by local students, lighting up the night like a living aquarium.

Beyond the celebration, the festival drives action through our Harvest Plastic Program, empowering lake households to reduce pollution and recycle responsibly.

This year’s festival was officially supported by the Siem Reap Provincial Government, Ministry of Tourism, and Ministry of Environment, aligning with national priorities under the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” for World Environment Day. It also supported the Ministry of Tourism’s “Visiting Cambodia Green Season” campaign and honored World Ocean Day on June 8.

The festival was proudly hosted by the Kampong Phluk Ecotourism Community and Administration, co-organized with the Bakong District Administration, CATA, and Go Solutions. Special thanks to our project partners including the Giant Puppet Project, Rivers.Global, and especially to our main sponsor Smart Axiata, along with co-sponsors Lynnaya Urban River Resort & Spa, Forte Insurance, Tribe Hotel, and World Kids Ocean Day.
