The Flag Handover Ceremony, Nairobi 2025 World Taekwondo U‑21 Championships.

At the closing ceremony on 6th December 2025 in Nairobi, a symbolic moment marked the transition of hosting duties for the World U‑21 Taekwondo Championships.

🇰🇪 Major Suleiman Sumba (Rtd), President of the Kenya Taekwondo Federation, formally returned the World Taekwondo flag to Dr. Chungwon Choue, President of World Taekwondo.
Dr. Choue then presented the flag to Mr. Slavi Binev, President of the Bulgarian Taekwondo Federation, signifying that the next edition of the World U‑21 Taekwondo Championships will be hosted in Bulgaria.

✨ This handover was more than ceremonial and it symbolized Kenya’s pride in successfully hosting Africa’s first‑ever U‑21 Championships and Bulgaria’s commitment to carry forward the legacy. The flag itself represents continuity, responsibility, and the shared spirit of Taekwondo across nations.

A Spectacular Start to the World Taekwondo U21 Championships in Nairobi! 🇰🇪🥋🌍

The highly anticipated World Taekwondo Under-21 Championships kicked off in grand style at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, bringing together unmatched energy, global talent, and a powerful celebration of youth sport.

Day One featured 16 electrifying matches, showcasing rising stars from across the world. The opening ceremony was officially led by World Taekwondo President Dr. Chungwon Choue and Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Sports Elijah Mwangi, who praised Africa’s growing influence in global Taekwondo and reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to developing the sport from grassroots to elite level.

Team Kenya proudly fielded four athletes on Day One—Festo Wafula, Waida Mulah, Willias Odhiambo, and Vivian Shiali—who delivered spirited performances and set a strong foundation for the days ahead.
