OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUÉ TO ALL WEZESHA AWARDS NOMINEES
Date: 2nd June 2026
The Committee in Charge of the Wezesha Awards wishes to inform all nominees, partners, stakeholders, and supporters that a committee meeting was convened to review the progress of the awards process and deliberate on key matters concerning the credibility, transparency, inclusivity, and success of the awards program.
Following extensive discussions, the Committee unanimously resolved the following:
1. Voting Closure
The voting exercise shall officially close on 30th July 2026, as earlier communicated. Nominees and their supporters are encouraged to continue mobilizing votes within the stipulated period.
2. Review of the Voting System
The Committee reviewed concerns that had been raised regarding the technical aspects of the voting process in consultation with Evopoll, the official service provider. Following a comprehensive assessment, the Committee expressed satisfaction with the efficiency, reliability, and integrity of the system and remains confident that it guarantees a credible, transparent, and accountable voting process.
3. Minimum Vote Threshold
To uphold the purpose, competitiveness, and prestige of the awards, the Committee resolved that all nominees must attain a minimum of 300 votes to qualify for ranking as Winner, 1st Runner-Up, or 2nd Runner-Up in their respective categories.
This measure is intended to encourage active participation, eliminate non-competitive entries, and ensure that the awards genuinely celebrate influential changemakers making a positive impact within society.
4. Event Marketing and Strategic Partnerships
The Committee emphasized the importance of strengthening event marketing, publicity, and stakeholder engagement to support nominees and increase public participation in the awards process.
Additional efforts will also be directed towards securing strategic partners, sponsors, and development organizations that can support winners beyond the awards ceremony through mentorship, networking, capacity building, funding opportunities, and future community projects.
5. Equality, Professionalism, and Inclusivity
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, professionalism, and integrity throughout the awards process.
Under no circumstances shall any nominee receive special treatment, preferential consideration, or unfair advantage over another nominee. All participants shall be treated equally and with dignity.
The Committee further stressed the importance of respecting human rights, cultural diversity, race, nationality, gender, disability status, religion, and other individual differences. The Wezesha Awards remains committed to being an inclusive platform that celebrates excellence without discrimination.
6. Honorary Awards Recognition
The Committee further resolved to introduce Honorary Awards to recognize distinguished individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service, leadership, patriotism, and impact in community development, governance, youth empowerment, humanitarian work, arts, culture, and nation-building.
Such recognitions shall be conferred upon individuals whose contributions have significantly transformed communities and inspired positive social change.
The Committee also resolved to honor Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga in recognition of his immense contribution to Kenya's democratic development, community empowerment initiatives, social justice advocacy, and youth empowerment efforts over several decades. The family has already been informed of this recognition.
This honorary recognition seeks to celebrate and preserve the contributions of leaders and changemakers whose service has helped shape society and inspire future generations.
7. Further Communication
Additional details regarding certification, awards presentation, event venue, event program, and timing shall be communicated to all nominees and stakeholders in due course through the official Wezesha Awards communication channels.
Closing Remarks
The Committee extends its sincere appreciation to all nominees for their participation, commitment, and contribution towards creating positive change within society.
We wish every nominee the very best during the remaining voting period and reaffirm our commitment to supporting, recognizing, and celebrating your achievements and impact.
Together, let us continue championing excellence, leadership, innovation, and community transformation.
