A friendly international basketball tournament that takes place in rural Niigata twice a year (aka. The ALT basketball tourney). 新潟県十日町市で開催される国際バスケ親善大会です。

Hi everyone! Amanda here. Suuuper long time no post.

I am looking for someone to take over the tournament given that I will likely no longer be in Niigata after summer. If there is anyone who would like to take over please let me know 🙇‍♀️ The name will likely change depending 😂

Hey everyone! Upon much consideration we won’t be holding the spring tournament this year. There’s just too much corona to do it safely and I hope we can all meet up when we’re vaccinated.

Hello Everyone !
Can we all take a bit of time and decide about next basketball tournament?
We we got next tournament date, which is 26 of June 2021, and place is Nakasato Arena in Tokamachi.
I do have to say that there are two main problems. Tokamachi city is organizing all the different tournaments and we have green light to do ours but we still do have this corona situation so we will have to do all the measures. Second is simply attendance and how willing are you all to join.
Please write in comments what do you think , and would you join if we do it. Put happy emoticon if you want to come or angry emoticon if you dont want to join.

There is also one other problem that is not directly connected to this summer tournament but we need to talk about it now. There is high chance of me ( Sven ) leaving Tokamachi this year after olympics. I am pushing this tournament farward as much as I can but I am not sure if Tokamachi will not be able to organize it after I leave. Amanda cant do it alone.
Is anyone interested in organizing future tournaments ? Preferably someone who joined went to more than 3 or 4 tournaments and have will to do it. It can be in some other prefecture. Lets keep it alive :D Cheers

Hello Everyone. It was a tough year. We wish you best in this year, and we hope it will be better than last one.
We still don’t have dates reserved but we are thinking of June 26th or June 19th , both are Saturday. Pandemic is not over but, as we are getting closer to Tokyo2020 Olympics , it likely that COVID measures will become weaker. At this point we cant say for sure if we will be able organize International Basketball Tournament in June this year, but we would want to be prepared and reserve the date.
We canceled both tournament last year but we hope we can get together and have fun this year.
What do you guys think about Summer NIIB Tournament? Please write in the comments and like or dislike (angry emoticon ) the post.

Hello everyone ! I hope you are doing well.
Amanda and me are supposed to start making arrangements for tournament so we had consultations today is we should cancel it or not.
Situation in japan is getting worse and it would be very complicated for us to cancel it once we started making arrangements so we decided to also cancel Fall version of tournament.
I can see that there are people who wanted to join but only 15 people voted which is not enough for tournament.

We hope to see you next year or biggest event ever :D

Hello everyone. We are canceling next NIIB Tournament that was scheduled for June this year due to coronavirus. As you know we are organizing two tournaments per year, in June and October. Plan is to organize next tournament on 17th of October, so please put it into your schedules because it will be bigger one :D
Also, for the Autumn Tournament ( October 17th ) , in order to do things smoother and better, we will do it together with Tokamachi Active Sports. Tokamachi Active Sports is organization that is helping people with difficulties do sports and compete. After the last tournament we contributed all donation money to Tokamachi Active sports. They appreciated very much support from all of you and that took interest in our tournament and offered help next time.
They will help us with logistics and preparation for NIIB tournament that will remain unchanged, but they will also organize small bocchia tournament for kids on second floor of the gym. We really like that idea because there is more and more people coming with kids every times, so we wanted to have fun activities for kids also :D

皆さん、こんにちは！今年の６月に開催する予定だった春バージョンの新潟in the田舎国際バスケットボール大会を、コロナウイルスのことにより中止させていただきます。もともと通年2回NIIB大会を開催しますので、次の大会を、今年の10月17日に開催します。そして、２０２０年に一回しか開催しないので、もっと大きくて素晴らしい大会を開催することにしました :D
または、次の10月17日の大会をさらにスムーズに開催するために、十日町市アクティブスポーツを一緒にします。十日町市アクティブスポーツは、スポーツを楽しみたい障害のある方々を支えていただいていますので、前回のNIIB大会の募金を、十日町市アクティブスポーツに寄付させていただきました。十日町市アクティブスポーツは寄付で驚き、我々の大会の時に助けたいと言いました。なので、次の大会の時に、NIIB大会の参加者の中のファミリー（子供）がだんだ増えているので、中里アリーナの2階でボッチャのアクティビティを開催していただきます。
これからもよろしく願います。また、10月！！！

Hello everyone! Original plan is to organize 2020 Spring ver. NIIB on 13th of June, but we all know the situation that we have because of coronavirus so we wanted to ask also your opinion on the matter. City of Tokamachi still plans to organize events that are schedule for June, however in our case it more complicated because we get applications and money from everyone who wants to join which makes even much harder to cancel. Me and Amanda are leaning towards cancelation, because we will still organize tournament in October as planned. We also wanted to hear you comments because if you dont want to come there is no point organizing it. Thanks !

Everyone, congrats again on another fantastic tournament!! In the end, the finals came down to SIX vs. Cabbage Patch Ballers. CBP are the fall 2019 champions!! We will post more detailed information (rankings, etc) later.

皆様、また国際バスケ大会に参加してくれてありがとうございました。大変お疲れ様でした。決勝の最後でSIX vs. Cabbage Patch Ballersで、CBPが優勝！おめでとうございます！後で詳しい情報を投稿しますので、少々お待ちくださいね！
