The Historical Truth Behind Buchanan’s Term "Rooinga", Which Is Claimed as Historical Evidence by Bengali Muslims Calling Themselves Rohingya

The term "Rooinga" found in Buchanan’s paper, as edited and published by later individuals, refers solely to a geographic area—specifically Arakan (Rakhine State). It does not, in any way, refer to an ethnic group called "Rohingya," as claimed by those who adopt the Rohingya name. In the original manuscript written by Buchanan himself, it explicitly states: "They said that the Bengala name for Arakan is Ro_oinga." Later Rohingya proponents manipulated Buchanan’s original handwritten record to fit their own narrative, thereby creating a false history. You can compare the two referenced records to verify this.
Special Note:
The truth is that Bengalis were simply stating that they were from "Ro_oinga" (meaning from Arakan / Rakhine State). It is hereby brought to the readers' attention that they were by no means claiming to be of a "Ro_oinga ethnic group." Later editors transformed "Ro_oinga"—which was merely the name of a geographic region—into an ethnic identity, effectively instigating conflict between Rakhine people and Muslims.

နောက်ပိုင်းလူများက ပြင်ဆင်တည်းဖြတ်ထုတ်ဝေခဲ့သည့် ဘူချနန်း၏ စာတမ်းပါ "Rooinga" ဆိုသည့် အသုံးအနှုန်းသည် ဒေသအမည် (ပထဝီဝင်နယ်မြေ) ကိုသာ ရည်ညွှန်းခြင်းဖြစ်ပြီး၊ ထိုဒေသမှာလည်း ရခိုင်ပြည် (အာရကန်ပြည်) သာ ဖြစ်ပါသည်။ ရိုဟင်ဂျာအမည်ခံသူများ ပြောဆိုနေကြသကဲ့သို့ "ရိုဟင်ဂျာ" ဟူသော လူမျိုးတစ်မျိုးကို ရည်ညွှန်းနေခြင်း လုံးဝမဟုတ်ပါ။ စာမူရှင် ဘူချနန်း၏ မူရင်းလက်ရေးမူတွင် "They said that the Bengala name for Arakan is Ro_oinga" (အာရကန်ပြည်အတွက် ဘင်္ဂါလီအမည်မှာ Ro_oinga ဖြစ်သည်ဟု သူတို့က ပြောကြသည်) ဟု အတိအလင်း ရေးသားထားပါသည်။ နောက်ပိုင်းတွင် ရိုဟင်ဂျာလိုလားသူများက ဘူချနန်း၏ မူရင်းလက်ရေးမူ မှတ်တမ်းကို သူတို့လိုရာဆွဲသွင်း၍ သမိုင်းအမှားကို အသစ်ဖန်တီးခဲ့ကြခြင်း ဖြစ်ပါသည်။ ဖော်ပြပါ မှတ်တမ်းနှစ်ခုကို နှိုင်းယှဉ်ကြည့်နိုင်ပါသည်။
