A fleeting beauty, held as a lasting memory—🧊
Based in Singapore, Dawn Ng transforms the passage of time into vivid images. Layers of pigment are frozen into blocks of ice, then allowed to melt, leaving behind colour and traces that become paintings.
Presence and absence, creation and destruction, permanence and impermanence. Ng reflects on the fleeting beauty that emerges between these states, her relationship with ice as a material, and the sense of pause she hopes her work can create.

Breaking Down Fixed Perspectives, Living with Art — 🔨💥
Jiro Enomoto is a Fukuoka-based collector who has built a collection of contemporary art while also exploring how art can extend into public space. His journey began with his encounter with Nam June Paik, and his collection has grown to span works that engage with history and society alongside art that challenges established values — shaped through his own sensibility and ongoing dialogue with advisors.
"I want to break down fixed perspectives" — taking Enomoto's words as a starting point, what possibilities do collecting, public art, and art itself hold for how we see our cities and ourselves? Eri Takane found out.

Swirling, entangling, colliding brushstrokes. Lauren Quin’s paintings possess a vitality that resists easy description. A body, or a landscape? Organic forms move intensely between abstraction and figuration. The closer you look, the more new images seem to emerge from deep within the canvas.

モネ没後100年、そしてポーラ美術館開館25周年を記念する「あたらしい目―モネと21世紀のアート」展が、ポーラ美術館で開催中です。
同館が誇るアジア最大のモネの油彩画コレクション19点を一挙公開。セーヌ河の水辺やサン＝ラザール駅、ロンドンやヴェネツィアの連作、「睡蓮」連作など、初期から晩年までの画業をたどります。
さらに、国内外18組の現代作家による作品を、モネの革新的な表現や主題、制作背景と響き合う「創造的な対話」として紹介。時代や手法の異なる作品が交錯する空間を通して、「みる」という行為をあらためて問い直し、モネの作品を新たな視点から捉えます。

Marking the centenary of Claude Monet's death and the 25th anniversary of the Pola Museum of Art, The New Vision: Monet and the Contemporary Gaze is currently on view in Hakone.
The exhibition brings together all nineteen of Monet's oil paintings in the museum's collection—the largest Monet collection in Asia. Spanning his early to late career, the works include landscapes along the Seine, scenes of the Gare Saint-Lazare, series painted in London and Venice, and his celebrated Water Lilies.
Alongside Monet's paintings, works by eighteen contemporary artists offer new perspectives through creative dialogues across different periods and practices. Bringing these distinct ways of seeing together, the exhibition invites visitors to reconsider the act of looking itself and encounter Monet's work anew.

Japan's Contemporary Art, Its Distinct Beauty to the World — 🕯️
Delicate forms in glass and metal, emerging between light and shadow. Japanese contemporary art carries a language of expression all its own — shaped by materials, techniques, and aesthetic sensibilities cultivated over a long history, and moving freely beyond established genres. A Lighthouse called Kanata has championed this vision at art fairs in Japan and abroad, and in 2025 opened a new space in Omotesando, Tokyo.
At this year's Tokyo Gendai, the gallery introduces Japanese artists it wants the world's collectors and art professionals to discover now.

「ほぼ、空：青木淳 ＋ リチャード・タトル」展
Exhibition: Almost Sky: Jun Aoki ＋ Richard Tuttle

建築家・青木淳と美術家・リチャード・タトルが対話を重ねて実現した展覧会「ほぼ、空」が、東京オペラシティアートギャラリーで開催中です。
本展で意識されるのは、「そら」であり「くう」でもある「空」。何もない空虚ではなく、光や影、大気に満ち、絶えず微細な変化を続ける場として捉えられています。
青木にとって建築は、人それぞれの異なる価値観や速度を許容する“空気”のようなもの。一方、タトルにとって美術作品は、ある瞬間に捉えた真実や美しさ、充足感を他者と分かち合う“光”です。建築と美術という異なる視点が重なり合い、東京オペラシティアートギャラリーの空間に新たな可能性を引き出します。

“Almost Sky,” an exhibition born from an ongoing dialogue between architect Jun Aoki and artist Richard Tuttle, is currently on view at Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery.
At the heart of the exhibition is the idea of “sky” and “emptiness” — not as a void, but as a space filled with light, shadow and atmosphere, constantly shifting in subtle ways.
For Aoki, architecture is about “atmosphere,” creating free spaces that allow for different values and individual rhythms. For Tuttle, art is “light,” a medium through which truth, beauty and fulfilment captured in a moment can be shared with others. Bringing together these two perspectives, the exhibition explores the possibilities that emerge when art and architecture meet.

静謐で繊細な線。幾重にも重なるレイヤー。光と影によってゆっくりと姿を現すかたち。ジム・ヴァーバーグは、絵画や版画、インスタレーションを通して、見るという行為そのものに静かな時間をもたらしています。明快さと未知、幾何学性と曖昧さが同じ画面の中で共存し、見る人の視点や向き合い方によって表情を変えていく——写真や画面では捉えきれない、その繊細な変化。

Beyond What Meets the Eye — ✏️🌓
Delicate, quiet lines. Layers upon layers. Forms that slowly emerge through light and shadow. Jim Verburg works across painting, printmaking, and installation, bringing a quiet sense of time to the act of looking itself. Clarity and the unknown, geometric structure and ambiguity — they coexist within the same surface, shifting expression depending on how you look and how long you stay. A subtlety no photograph or screen can fully hold.

「ロン・ミュエク」展 Exhibition: Ron Mueck

革新的な素材や技法、表現方法を用い、具象彫刻の可能性を押し広げてきたロン・ミュエクの個展が森美術館で開催中です。 実際の人物よりもはるかに大きく、あるいは小さく造られるミュエクの彫刻は、圧倒的なリアリティを持ちながら、孤独、脆さや弱さ、不安、回復力といった人間の内面的な感情や体験を映し出します。 日本では2008年の金沢21世紀美術館以来、2度目となる個展。本展では、大型作品《マス》（2016–2017年）をはじめ、初期の代表作から近作まで11点を展示。そのうち6点が日本初公開となります。

Ron Mueck, known for pushing the boundaries of figurative sculpture through innovative materials, techniques and methods of expression, is currently the subject of a solo exhibition at Mori Art Museum. Often rendered much larger or smaller than life, Mueck's sculptures challenge our perception of reality while capturing inner human emotions and experiences including loneliness, vulnerability, anxiety and resilience. His second solo exhibition in Japan, following his 2008 retrospective at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, brings together eleven works spanning early masterpieces and more recent creations, including the monumental "Mass" (2016–2017). Six works are being shown in Japan for the first time.
