“Living Yangtze” is a multi-media project which tells the stories of seven communities living along the great Yangtze River. The Grand Opening of this exhibition on October 15th, with Vanke chairman Wang Shi and Markus Langes-Swarovski in attendance, will be on display at the Vanke Pavilion (designed by Daniel Libeskind) until October 31. Swarovski commissioned the famous French photographer, Eric Valli to spend six months documenting the lives of communities around the Swarovski Waterschools, located along the Yangtze river. The exhibition includes inspiring photographs and short documentary films from seven communities, each living in harmony with the river.

Wednesday, October 14th - Politecnico di Milano will held a conference for the founder of the Chinese real estate giant Vanke, Wang Shi and the author of the project of Vanke Pavilion for Expo 2015, Daniel Libeskind!

Daniel Libeskind, architectural star and Wang Shi, chairman of the multinational real estate giant Vanke, were the focus of a conference held this afternoon at Politecnico di Milano, in attendance were Italian and Chinese students and entrepreneurs. "The sport for me was the hook that made me understand the importance of sustainability, especially for a company like Vanke, who use large quantities of natural resources such as wood - said Wang Shi - More than twenty years ago, In fact, while climbing Kilimanjaro, I realized that where once there was the snow was gone because of global warming. China as the most populous country in the world, is jointly responsible for the pollution that causes global warming, and how I, as an entrepreneur have always been committed to making the business of which I head - the largest property developer in the world- the most sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. Making a sustainable economy is essential to our future, not only as individuals."

"Living Yangtze” the photo exhibition presented this evening at Vanke Pavilion, portrays the magnificent landscapes and dignified faces of the people the photographer Eric Valli came to know upon his journey. The Yangtze River is the third largest river in the world, and home to 480 million people, it suports one‐third of the Chinese population. The exhibition aims to use the medium of film to generate empathy and awareness of the importance of clean, sustainable water sources. Valli believes that the best way to raise environmental awareness is to inspire new audiences with an appreciation of the beauty of our natural landscapes, not with “doom laden statistics.”
