We, The Pahalgam Hotel & Guest House Owners Association, wish to draw attention to a matter of serious concern regarding recent activities in our tourism sector.
We acknowledge that the Travel Tour Ganatw From Srinagar particularly Travel Agents Association of Kashmir -TAAK has long been regarded as a responsible and influential organization, contributing significantly to the growth and promotion of tourism in Kashmir over the years. However, in recent times, we have observed with concern a shift in approach that is adversely affecting the tourism ecosystem of Pahalgam region.
It has come to our notice that instead of engaging with genuine and registered stakeholders, TAAK Kashmir are promoting unregistered hotels and unauthorized commercial units in the Lidder Valley region. Such actions not only undermine the integrity of the tourism industry but also create unrest among registered hotel and guest house owners, who operate within the legal framework and bear substantial financial burdens, including taxes, licensing fees, and compliance costs.
At a time when registered tourism units are already facing numerous challenges from years , it is deeply disappointing that a responsible body would, directly or indirectly, encourage the growth of unregulated establishments. This practice puts legitimate businesses at a disadvantage and weakens the foundation of a fair and accountable tourism industry.
We strongly urge Travel Agents Association of Kashmir to reconsider such actions and ensure that their efforts align with the principles of fairness, legality, and sustainable tourism development. Promoting only registered and compliant units is essential to maintaining trust, transparency, and long-term growth in the sector.
The Pahalgam Hotel and Guest House Owners Association firmly condemns any promotion of unregistered entities and expects that corrective measures will be taken in the interest of the entire tourism fraternity.
We remain hopeful that in the future, all stakeholders will work collectively and responsibly to strengthen the tourism industry of Pahalgam.

Today, on behalf of the Pahalgam Hotel and Guest House Owners Association (PHGA), Mushtaq Pahalgami President (PHGA), along with Jagjit Singh Ji, had the honour of meeting the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor at Pahalgam.
We presented a detailed representation outlining the major difficulties faced by our community, especially in the aftermath of 22nd April 2025. We are grateful to the Hon’ble Governor for giving us a patient hearing and providing valuable time and a platform to voice our concerns.
The Governor Shb assured us that just as some parks and sightseeing points were reopened today, more such places will be opened soon in a phased manner.
It is a shared aspiration of both the Hon’ble Governor and of all of us that this year’s Amarnath Yatra is conducted smoothly and peacefully, with broad participation.
Such an outcome will send a strong and positive message across the country and the world, paving the way for a brighter future for tourism in our region.

We would also like to remind everyone that over the past 53 days, we have worked tirelessly on the ground, day and night striving to address these issues.
Today, we begin to see the first signs of progress from that hard work.
Our mission will continue with the same dedication. In the coming days, you will witness further positive developments.
We remain fully committed to fighting for the rights and well-being of our people.
Until the smiles return to their faces, We will not rest.

On 29 April 2025, the Pahalgam Hotel and Guest House Owners Association convened an important meeting at Pahalgam to adopt a resolution expressing solidarity and paying tribute to all tourist brothers and Adil Ahmad Shah , who made the ultimate sacrifice on 22nd April in Baisaran Valley.
1. The association conducted a dua majlis and observed two minutes of silence to honor the victims of the recent attack in Baisaran.
2. The association waived 20 percent on all food items and 25 percent on all hotels and guest houses as a tribute to the tourists who lost their lives in the attack.

Today's meeting with officers from urban local bodies in Kashmir was significant. The agenda addressed the user fee charges for the hotel and hospitality sector, recently increased by 100% by the Municipal Committee Pahalgam, a move opposed by both associations due to the considerable hike in user charges.
In the meeting, both the Pahalgam Hotel And Guest House Owners Association and Pahalgam Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association have urged the Municipal Committee Pahalgam to amend the fee structure, citing concerns that the current rates are unaffordable and may disturb the sector, which has already decreased significantly, and therefore requested a revision of the fee to prevent further hardship for the hotel industry.
Urban Local Bodies department has assured that they will take up this critical issue with senior authorities and strive to achieve optimal results that will be satisfactory and accessible to all.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting Accounts Officer Urban Local Bodies Kashmir , Executive Officer Municipal Committee Pahalgam, Mushtaq Pahalgami ,Jagjeet Singh ,Mohd Iqbal Bhat of Pahalgam Hotel And Guest House Owners Association and others ,Waheed Malik,Shabir Ahmad Lone ,Mohd Ibrahim Raina,Dildar Ahmad Khan of Pahalgam Hotel and Resturant Owners Association and others ...Apart from many officers /officials and hoteliers also participated in this meeting .Thank you.
