Inspired by the call of the So:yung (Kuli Sorai / Asian Koel)—a timeless symbol of peace, renewal, and harmony—SO:YUNG Festival 2026 is set to come alive on the abundant banks of the Subansiri River, in the heart of the Lakhimpur region.

Once a land of dense forests where the So:yung bird’s song echoed across the air, this place holds memories of deep unity between nature and people. Through music, culture, and community, SO:YUNG Festival seeks to revive that spirit—connecting hearts, celebrating indigenous identity, and creating a platform for socio-economic development and cultural tourism.

The Story of SO:YUNG (Kuli Sorai) 🕊️🌿 at Singimari Jungle & River side

Before festivals had names and stages had lights, there was SO:YUNG — locally known as Kuli Sorai.
A bird whose call echoed through the deep jungles of the Singimari River bank region, long before roads and settlements existed.

In those earlier times, this land was a vast forest. Tribal villagers would walk along the riverbanks for fishing, caring for their cows and buffaloes, and resting near Jhaowon Tholi—the tall riverside grass that grew naturally along the water. In the quiet of the morning and evening, the melodious call of the So:yung bird filled the air.

That sound brought peace, hope, and harmony to the hearts of the villagers. It was not just a bird—it was a companion of everyday life, a natural signal of change, and a symbol of balance between humans and nature.

Inspired by this memory, SO:YUNG Festival was born—to revive that spirit of togetherness, to honor our roots, and to reconnect people with culture, music, and the land that shaped us.

This is where our story begins.
This is the call of SO:YUNG.

✨ More stories, music, and memories coming soon.
