Ram Kumar taught us that silence can have a shape.

A cluster of houses. A lone figure. A city reduced to colour and memory.

Ram kumar was also a Hindi writer.

His stories like his paintings were restrained, observant and quite heavy with human experiences.

we tried to sit with that stillness and stitched a postcard.

Indian miniature paintings were never really miniature in imagination, entire worlds existed inside them.👀✨ Slide 7 & 8 : we made small stitched postcard studies inspired by the cloud motifs often seen drifting across Mughal and Pahari skies.
Slide 9: : a tiny elephant miniature brought back from Jaipur last year.
Slide 10: postcards we picked up at the Mehrangarh Fort museum in Jodhpur.
Tiny windows into monsoon skies, forests, mythology and courtly life, all painted with impossible detail.
