Swachh Bharat Abhiyan - Clean India Mission and abbreviated as SBA or SBM for Swachh Bharat Mission) is a national campaign by the Government of India, covering 4041 statutory towns, to clean the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country. The campaign was officially launched on 2 October 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself cleaned the road. It is India's b

iggest ever cleanliness drive and 3 million government employees and school and college students of India participated in this event. The mission was started by Prime Minister Modi, who nominated nine famous personalities for the campaign, and they took up the challenge and nominated nine more people and so on. It has been carried forward since then with people from all walks of life joining it. Objectives:-

This campaign aims to accomplish the vision of a 'Clean India' by 2 October 2019, the 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. Specific objectives are:-

1.Elimination of open defecation
2.Conversion of unsanitary toilets to pour flush toilets (a type of pit latrine, usually connected to two pits)
3.Eradication of manual scavenging
4.100% collection and processing/disposal/reuse/recycling of municipal solid waste
5.A behavioural change in people regarding healthy sanitation practices
6. Generation of awareness among citizens about sanitation and its linkages with public health
7. Supporting urban local bodies in designing, executing and operating waste disposal systems
8. Facilitating private-sector participation in capital expenditure and operation and maintenance costs for sanitary facilities.

कानपुर नगर निगम के नगर आयुक्त श्री शिवशरप्पा जी0एन0 द्वारा दिए गए निर्देशों के अनुपालन में आज दिनांक 13 मार्च को अपर नगर आयुक्त जगदीश यादव द्वारा गोविंद नगर मलिन बस्ती स्थित भरे पड़े नाले का निरीक्षण किया गया। मौके पर जोनल स्वच्छता अधिकारी व क्षेत्रीय अवर अभियन्ता उपस्थित मिलें। अवर अभियंता द्वारा अवगत कराया गया कि गत वर्ष की भांति इस वर्ष भी नाला सफाई का कार्य प्राविधानित किया गया है उक्त कार्य की निविदा सम्पन्न करा ली गयी है। चूॅकि प्रत्येक वर्ष यह कार्य माह मई व जून में कराया जाता है परन्तु नाला भरा होने के कारण जनहित में इस कार्य को प्रारम्भ करा दिया गया है।
चूॅकि यहाॅ क्षेत्रीय निवासियों द्वारा निरंतर रूप से घरेलू कूड़ा कचरा डाले जाने के कारण यह नाला प्राय चोक हो जाता है।
स्थल पर धनी आबादी व सकरी गलियाॅ होने के कारण नाला सफाई कार्य मानव बल के माध्यम से ही कराया जाता है मौके पर 7 - 8 कर्मचारी नाला सफाई कार्य करते पाये गये। कुछ देर सफाई कार्य के उपरांत नाले में पानी का स्तर 6 इंच तक कम हुआ पाया गया।
इस पर अपर नगर आयुक्त द्वारा जोनल अभियन्ता एवं अवर अभियन्ता को निर्देशित किया गया कि अतिरिक्त कर्मचारी लगाकर युद्ध स्तर पर नाले की तलीझार सफाई अतिशीघ्र पूर्ण करायी जाये, जिससे क्षेत्रीय निवासियों को जलभराव इत्यादि समस्या का सामना न करना पड़े।
