TUNI

TUNI Tuni is a studio set up by textile designer Swati Maskeri to revitalize handcraft traditions of India.

Tuni is housed in a beautiful brick building in Yelahanka, a suburb of Bangalore. It is quintessentially the artist/designer's work space where conversations between the traditional and the contemporary are explored. Swati works with two third generation silk weavers to create exquisite woven textiles which are exported to New York and London.

Had the opportunity to see a wonderful exhibition Chay Reds and Ferrous Black. The exhibition reveals untold stories of Indian textiles found in Sri Lanka. The exquisite centuries old textiles have been beautifully restored and displayed by the MAP team. Folks in Bangalore don't miss this opportunity to see the exhibition. Two weekends ago I posted this photo asking people to guess where I was! Finally here is the post. I was on the 450 acre campus of the Somaiya group's Godavari Biorefineries ltd at Sameerwadi in Bagalkot, Karnataka.
An absolutely delightful green campus not only because of the trees but also because of the closed loop systems they use in their factory.
