Big congratulations to Michael Siegal for receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Hall of Fame!

We are proud to announce Michael Siegal as a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award!

Michael Siegal is an American philanthropist Jewish communal leader who serves as president of Maccabi World Union, the global Jewish sports movement operating across roughly 70 countries. Elected in 2023 as the organization’s first American president, he leads its efforts to use sport to promote Jewish unity, Zionist engagement, and connections between Jewish Communities.

Siegal, now Chairman of Ryerson, Inc., an eight-billion-dollar metal service center, began his career at Olympic Steel, Inc., a family-owned steel service center started in 1954 by his father and uncle. He joined Olympic in 1974, assumed leadership in 1984 and took Olympic Steel public in 1994. In 2026, Olympic merged with Ryerson, Inc.

As a prominent figure, Michael has continuously used his platform to speak out against antisemitism, specifically across college campuses around the world. He has called on administrators and board members to protect their Jewish students. He has a firm commitment to building community and connectivity with the next generation of Jewish youth.

Michael has previously served on the board of directors of Cliffs Natural Resources, Inc., The Metal Service Center Institute, University Hospitals of Cleveland, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Currently, Michael sits on the Board of Twin City Fans and Secure Community Network. He has held several prominent leadership positions within Jewish communal organizations, including Chairman of The Jewish Agency for Israel from 2017 to 2022, Chair of Israel Bonds from 2007 to 2010, chair of the Jewish Federations of North America from 2012 to 2015, and Chair of the Board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Cleveland from 2010 to 2013. Alongside his wife, Anita, Siegal also help establish the Michael and Anita Siegal One Happy Camper Scholarship Fund through the Foundation of Jewish Camping, supporting families seeking meaningful Jewish summer-camp experiences. Anita and Michael share 3 children, 5 grandchildren, through their 51 years of marriage.

How are you celebrating the New Year? 🍎🍯
Maccabi World Union and the Maccabi Women’s Forum, together with the family of Judge Dov Levin z”l — his son Eli and grandson Omer — continued our Rosh Hashanah tradition of donating food parcels to elderly members of Beit Dani in Tel Aviv who are in need.
This meaningful initiative honors the memory of Dov Levin z”l, former Supreme Court Justice, President of the Israel Football Association’s Judicial Bodies, and Honorary Chairman of the MWU Court of Honor.
Orly Froman, Vice Chairman of MWU & Chair of the Women’s Forum; Ilana Ben Namer-Kevehazi, Director of MWU Desks & Board of Trustees; and Shlomo Maslawi, member of the Tel Aviv City Council and Chairman of the Hatikva Neighborhood Committee, joined Eli and Omer to toast the New Year and hand out the food parcels.
A beautiful Rosh Hashanah tradition of giving, remembrance, and community. 🤍

This summer, our shlichim brought the spirit of the Maccabiah to summer camps, creating an amazing Maccabiah Day at every single camp alongside Israeli athletes 💪🇮🇱
We are proud to share the values of sports and Jewish identity around the globe, and to bring the Maccabiah experience to as many people as possible!
