Before Storm Chandra, we were very fortunate to secure funding to develop a Blue-Green Infrastructure Assessment and Action Plan for Aughrim and its surrounding areas.

Now we want you to be part of the process.

Our first public workshop will take place at the Pavilion on Thursday, September 3rd, and everyone in the community is invited to come along and have their say.

This is a collaboration between Aughrim Tidy Towns, ACT (Accelerating Change Together CLG) and River Basin Management Services (formerly LAWPRO).

💧 What is Blue-Green Infrastructure?

It's about looking at how water, nature and public spaces connect across Aughrim, identifying opportunities to improve water management, strengthen biodiversity and create a more flood resilient place for both people and wildlife.

Your local knowledge is incredibly valuable. You know the areas that flood, the places where water collects, the spaces that could be greener, and the natural assets that make Aughrim special.

🎻✨ ONLY ONE WEEK TO GO! ✨🎻

The countdown is almost over! In just one week, we'll unveil Light Through the Landscape: Aughrim in Glass—a stunning new public artwork inspired by our community and created for our community.

Over the past few weeks, we've shared a couple of close-up teasers—a hay bale celebrating our rural landscape and a dragonfly highlighting the rich biodiversity that surrounds us.

This week, we're giving you one final glimpse... a fiddle. 🎻

This small detail represents another important part of Aughrim's story. It celebrates a tradition that has echoed through our village for generations, bringing people together and creating memories that continue to shape our community today.

What other hidden details will you discover when the full artwork is revealed?

🎶 We're also delighted that the unveiling will feature live traditional music by local group Black Knot, helping to make this a wonderful celebration of community, creativity and place.

Join us for this very special occasion as we unveil Light Through the Landscape: Aughrim in Glass, created by architectural glass artist Bianca Divito from ideas shared by the children of Sacred Heart National School and our local community.

Craic in the Granite Music & Arts Festival

Aughrim was filled with music, colour and community last weekend as large crowds gathered for two lively days of entertainment at the Craic in the Granite Music & Arts Festival.
