Green social prescribing supports health and wellbeing through connection with nature, community and meaningful activities.

It began as a community-led response to social isolation, loneliness and disconnection — recognising that wellbeing is shaped not only by healthcare, but also by belonging, purpose and supportive environments.
From walking groups and gardening to ecotherapy, outdoor activities and creative community projects, green social prescribing helps people reconnect with themselves, others and the natural world.

These are the conversations we’ll be exploring at Rooted & Growing 2026.

We’re delighted to welcome Dr. Marianne Fallon to the Rooted & Growing Conference at Strokestown Park.

A Chartered Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience, Marianne’s work explores brain health, dementia, ecotherapy and the role of nature connection in health and social care. As Chair of the County Roscommon Well Connected Social Prescribing Project, she is deeply committed to building healthier, more connected communities through grounded, nature-based approaches.
Set across two days in the historic grounds of Strokestown Park, Rooted & Growing brings together practitioners, researchers, community groups and health and social care workers to explore how nature-based approaches can support wellbeing, reflection, learning and connection. Through talks, discussion and outdoor workshops, the conference will focus on sharing real experiences, challenges and ideas for the future.
